"The Zhangjiakou and Yanqing Zones have minimal annual snowfall and for the Games would rely completely on artificial snow," concluded the bid evaluation. "There would be no opportunity to haul snow from higher elevations for contingency maintenance to the racecourses so a contingency plan would rely on stockpiled man-made snow."
While using artificial snow shouldn't affect the competition (or, maybe it will), it's going to make for an odd viewing experience.
"Due to the lack of natural snow the ‘look’ of the venue may not be aesthetically pleasing either side of the ski run," the IOC admitted.

You are truly one of the worst pieces of shit to ever post on this board. Start giving up your paycheck for reparations now and then you can shut the fuck up about your racist blasts.
Gotta love Jerkovich. He can lump so much stupid in two lines that things like royally fucking up the term "white elephant" hasn't even had its turn to be ridiculed.
Both summer and Winter Olympics seemed to jump the shark over the last 30 years or so. I think it has something to do with the ending of the Cold War. Back in the day, the U.S. / USSR matchup created a good bit of interest. Even allowing pros hasn't helped.

Yea, they have progressively sucked hard. But at lest the argument could be made the facilities the games were held in were worthy of high level competition. What China will be doing in 2022 will make Sochi look downright reasonable in comparison.

The whole idea that you have to spend billions of dollars to build a stadium for two weeks use is fukking insane. They wanted boston to build an Olympic stadium, then tear the fukking thing down. Rack the chowds for saying no. Poor fukks are still paying for the big dig boondoggle.
It would be nice to see a US city get it. LA or ATL could hold it tomorrow. Pretty much any city with an NFL stadium could do it, actually. Baseball parks are not really suited for it.

The cowgirls place would make a decent enough olympic statium.
The state is loaded with world class sports venues that could host events. Between Dallas, Austin and San Antonio they would be set. You should see the Blue Bell Stadium at A&M in College station, I know many a pro baseball teams that would love playing in that place let alone using it for Olympic Baseball. UT and SMU also have amazing facilities.
They could do it in a heartbeat.

Rack Boston. Now DC pols and businessmen (i.e. developers) are getting fired up for a second shot at the Olympics. I hope it doesn't happen.

smackaholic wrote:Why not DC? They wouldn't have to build much in the way of new facilities, would they? Use fedex field for the stadium events.
DC 2024's new stadium would be a new Skins stadium at the RFK site. Which is why so many of us don't want the Olympics here.

I must modify this statement. Scratch LA from that list. Many of the summer sports involve water. We are talking about 2024. I doubt they'll have enough water left to fill mikey's pool, never mind a 50M Olympic one.
Actually, I guess we could convert the water sports over to salt water. I wonder if the swim times would go lower with the improved buoyancy?
