Objectivity is not satisfied by two opposing people offering competing opinions, leaving the viewer to split the difference.

What an arrogant ass. Readers/viewers do not merely split the difference in that scenario. They apply their reason, judgment, values, principles to draw a conclusion. People split the difference when the journalists editorializes and simply cannot trust what is being written and is only left with suspicion, at best.
