Now if we want to say (as you did previously) that ground under a lake curves but the water above remains flat, then we have a SERIOUS problem.

Lake Michigan is 300 miles long.
That means that over the course of these 300 miles, there is an earth curvature drop of 11 miles.

In this diagram, assume the 300 miles of Lake Michigan runs from one end of the brown to the other.
The earth is curving below, as you indicated before -- and the flat water is above.



This would mean that there is a 5 mile drop at each end.
What would happen to the water at this point??

If you are a flat Earth believer, then everything about simple and observable Astronomy gets thrown out the of window in your view. For example, why do you only see certain constellations in the night sky only during predictable and measurable times of the year., Polaris while being very dim star that takes the position of North is currently there due to "precession" of the Earth.
