James Blake video

What do you dick slaps think about this?
Seems like the press is trying to blow it up into a lot more than it is. After reading the reports on it, I expected to see dude suplexed to the ground and beaten like toolio's prostate at the NBA all-star after game party. What I did see was a pretty fukking routine and controlled take down.
I would want to know a lot more about the situation.
Who did the cop think this dude was?
Was he looking for some potentially violent bad-ass? Someone like that, you take down hard and fast. If you are looking for a dude that has 30 unpaid parking tickets, you handle it differently.
James' claim that he was body slammed is bullshit. Dude tried to cuff he, he resisted, and the po-po rode him rather gently to the ground. This is what MS would call a successful date.

Re: James Blake video
From what I saw Blake was just leaning against the wall texting on his phone next to the hotel entrance. He was obviously occupied with his phone, unconcerned with whatever was going on around him when all of a sudden this cop takes him down. On top of that, he is quite white looking.

What is it with NY cops being complete asswipes? 9/11 was the best thing to happen to those losers.

You mean JUST the cops? Because NYC is pretty much the asswipe capitol of the world. They even have some of the biggest, most luxurious asswipes around.Screw_Michigan wrote:What is it with NY cops being complete asswipes?

Re: James Blake video
Just heard that he was cuffed on the ground for 10 minutes and that the guy he was looking for was some credit card fraudster.
Not looking good for the cop so far. Would still like to hear more, but, sounds like he is guilty of at least really bad judgement. People like that don't need to be walking around with a badge and a gun.

Re: James Blake video
The takedown was pretty much by the book. Nothing wrong with the actions taken by the police officers as far as how the arrest was made. Absolutely no excessive force was used.
The question here is how was Blake mistaken for the actual suspect. If there's a strong resemblance to the actual suspect then I would expect that only a small punitive action would be taken. If there isn't a strong resemblance I'd say he'd be looking at a long unpaid vacation, if not outright fired.
And fuck CNN for mentioning that he has been sued twice before for excessive force. First, other cases have no bearing on this case. Second, any officers with a legitimate amount of time on the job will get complaints & sued (especially if the officer is proactive). And lastly, just because a municipality settles an excessive force lawsuit with someone it doesn't mean that the force was excessive. It simply means that the lawyers for the city/county found that the cost/risk of fighting such litigation outweighed settling with the party. Happens all the time.

Stop your whining. This is NY, not Mayberry. This is supposed to be the big leagues. If you have problems properly IDing suspects without slamming them face first into the sidewalk in the mean time, go work in upstate in Canton.Diego in Seattle wrote: And fuck CNN for mentioning that he has been sued twice before for excessive force. Re: James Blake video
As I said earlier, there are situations where taking down a serious badass criminal hard and fast, may be warranted. If you suspect that asking someone for an ID is likely to result in him pulling a glock out of his back pocket rather than a wallet, you take him quickly and with whatever force is necessary. From what I have gathered, this ain't that dude.
So, we have a guy getting ridden to the ground in a situation where walking up to him and asking for an ID sounds like it would have been much more appropriate.
I do agree that CNN is a worthless rabble rousing shit organization, but, it's not like that is news to anyone. A NYC street cop who doesn't have a few lawsuits against him is probably not doing his job.
