World Series - call it
Mets great SP be damned, KC will out-athlete the Yorkers and find a way.
30 years is a long time and a nice even number. Maybe next year for that team.
Royals in 6.

It should be Royals in 6, but never count Ned Yost out.

Great game tonight, Colon dueling with Young, who would've thought, I still think the Mets will win it all. Game 4 will be interesting to see if Yost goes with Volquez or Young, versus Madz (sp?). I think the the two young Met's longhairs will win the next couple of games.
Also it is only 10:45 here on the left coast...

It was indeed a great game, an instant classic, if you will.
I made it thru 11 innings before having to bail.

Re: World Series - call it
I don't care which team wins. All that matters is that the Chicago Cubs are out. Again. You may ask why do I care about Chicago? It's because the Cubbies have a role to play in life and that is to be the lovable loser in MLB. We used to love Boston for the same reason-- they suffered from "The Curse of the Bambino" and it made them charming, fun to watch, fun to commiserate with during October. Everyone could root for them, especially if they were playing New York, but once they won? Now they're just another overpaying asshole team who buys championships. No charm, no backstory, no reason to watch.
Chicago is in that pre-championship Boston place. If they were smart the owner would pay the players or refs to throw the game. Let them into the playoffs or Series? Sure. The closer to winning, the better. But don't let them win. In Chicago's case, winning is for losers. If they ever take a World Series what makes them special is lost and no championship pennant can ever replace that.

Speak for yourself. Before the Red Sox broke through, their core fan was already an insufferable dickhole who obnoxiously rooted for a team that sucked at buying championships till 2004.Rooster wrote: We used to love Boston for the same reason-- they suffered from "The Curse of the Bambino" and it made them charming, fun to watch, fun to commiserate with during October. My initial thought was IKYABWAIs in six, so I'll stick with that. deGrom vs Cueto is going to be the biggest mismatch in this series. If the Mets don't win tonight, I think it'll be a clean sweep.

ehhh, I picked the wrong longhair tonight.
I'm thinking my prognostication last night will probably play out to be wrong, but that was mostly for Whitey's benefit.

I am just hoping for a sweep so that by this time next week baseball will occupy zero space on sports center. Granted it will be replaced by NBA which isn't any better.
Here's hoping the Royals win it for Wagon's sake.

It's all that ad revenue from the big metro areas that drive the media and sports interest in general. Puny KC doesn't pay their bills. I get that, doesn't bother me.
Happy to be in the flyover, feet on the ground. I don't want to get on another jetliner. The few times I have were more than enough.
That's creepy, but still, I don't dislike you.Plus - I just want Wags to love me.
You keep it real for the most part, just sometimes go overboard seeking.... whatever it is that you seek.

Way for the Mets skipper to forget he runs the team and shits the bed caving in to Harvey in the 9th.

I've never seen anything like it at the MLB level. No petulant pitcher should ever be telling the fucking manager who got them there that he's staying in to pitch the 9th. No manager worth his salt should ever go against his best judgement, regardless of what the idiot fans were chanting at the time.
He got played like a fool not only for leaving him in, but then staying with him after Cain worked him for a walk. He had over 110 pitches at the time, hello? This from a guy coming off TJ surgery who was supposedly on an 180 innings limit for the year.
That's the way I saw it playing out as well, but we'll take the charity. Not that this team needed much, if any.Royals should've been celebrating at home in game 6
You never let off the gas, assuming anything. They lost at home in Game 7 last year. You take what you can get, when you can get it, because shit can and does happen.
In this case, Take The Crown, Royals... this town has gone apeshit, batshit crazy.

You've seen it before. Remember Pedro talking that soon to be fired Bosox manager into blowing the 03 ALCS?

Harvey didn't just talk his manager into it, he fucking told him he was pitching the 9th and that was fucking that.
Much hilarity ensued, at least in these parts.

I disagree about pulling a pitcher if he is mowing people down. Harvey was. It didn't work out. Oh well. Same for Pedro in 03. If you remember, the yanks got those last few runs on bloopers and ground balls lucky enough to get through the holes. How many big games were won over the years by pitchers that were left in? How many were blown by relievers after pulling a dominant starter.

4th time thru the lineup, over 100 pitches, facing the 3, 4 & 5 batters. You've got a dominant closer sitting on his hands in the bullpen and there is no tomorrow if you blow this game...smackaholic wrote:I disagree about pulling a pitcher if he is mowing people down. Gee, tough decision... I dunno'... let's ask cockaholic if he should use 6 x 6 or 4 x 4 posts to attach a deck to a cinder block foundation.
What could possibly go wrong, do they sell 4 x 6's?

It's a poured foundation, dumbfukk. And the 2x10, may have been 12, is through bolted to the sill plate with 1/2" carriage bolts, about every 2 ft.
It ain't going nowhere.
As for the decision, read what I said above. Dude was cruising along.

Don't need a pic, dumbass. I assure you it is a poured concrete foundation. Got rebar in it and all. It was formed using 2x lumber rather than the purpose built forms used today. This was pretty much standard practice in 1958.War Wagon wrote:Please, oh please, somebody put up a picture of that "foundation" again.smackaholic wrote:It's a poured foundation, dumbfukk. Which is less than 1/3rd of where I live... I'm guessing it's similar where Holic lives... because they're places sane people actually want to live.
