Presidential reviewing of disater areas.
In 2005 Sen Obama went to Nawlins and criticized the shrub for doing no more than a flyover to "survey the damage". Of course he knew that dropping a president right in the middle of a cleanup is a monumentally bad idea. But, he didn't give a fukk and he knows his mouth breather followers would eat it up. Bush, being the clueless pussy he was did not defend his actions much, if I recall.
Fast forward 11 years and we have the Trumpster here, criticizing the fact that Obama couldn't even break a fukking tee time on MVY. Obama, of course said that going there now would be foolish.
He is right, but it is further proof that he is a hypocritical POS and January 20 can't get here soon enough.
My personal opinion on the matter is any politician that decides he needs to "survey the damage" is a self centered a-hole. Watch it on the news channel of your choice. If you are not directly helping in the cleanup, you are in the way. This would include airspace above as well. Why the fukk our pols insist on this bullshit appearance of giving a fukk is beyond me. I would respect one that would say as much as Barry did, had he not been a stone thrower the last time g0d shat on the big easy.
He is scheduled to go there next wednesday. Probably because there is rain in the forecast and not a good golf day back home.

Re: Presidential reviewing of disater areas.
Having been thru a flooding crisis in which friends lost their home and some of their family members, I feel I have bunch of first hand knowledge on this subject. I spent 17 days non stop in Wimberley Texas last Memorial Day after flooding devastated that town and we lost close family friends. Not sure if I posted pics/the story of that or not.
Anywho, having seen a good number of both state and Federal elected officials come thru our makeshift headquarters, I can see both sides of the coin. There were some elected types who came in trailing a posse of aides, staffers and press. They tended to make a bunch of noise, forced the actual search and rescue efforts to stop while they spoke, and generally got in the way while they tried to look important. These were the worst. Then there were the types who came in by themselves and just wanted to speak to the volunteers and or survivors families. These were much better to have around but still were somewhat in the way. However, they often were a comfort to the survivors and encouraging to the volunteers.
The best ones came in alone or with a spouse and just wanted to be given a job to do to help out. They didn't let most folks know who they were or that they were elected to xyz. They just saw our call for help and volunteers and showed up ready to work. These were great people to have around as they were happy to put their offices to work where we could use them or to use their connections to help us get access or something similar.
One example of the better ones was a US congressman from S. Texas who was on the transportation committee. He helped us gain access to the closed airspace over and near the river when we had 14 volunteer helicopters and pilots, but the FAA and FEMA who wasn't flying any assets for days at a time refused to lift the no fly ban. In two hours he had all 14 birds free access for the duration of the search and rescue/recovery effort.
So, if a politician wants to come in and do a tv op, screw em. If they want to meet with the families, and the families want the meeting, great. They want to come in and help search or pass out supplies without the cameras, or help secure more assets, even better.

As much as I loathe the thought of that hopelessly corrupt bitch taking the reigns, I believe she would be slightly less incompetent. I am still hoping that Trump is finally on track and will roll her. Of course 2 days is much to go on.

The problem is that when a party nominee, VPOTUS, or POTUS come into town it's not just the USSS that's protecting them. State & local LE provide traffic control, crowd control & intelligence at the very least. Do you think LA has the LE resources right now to spare for a looky-loo photo op?Left Seater wrote:So, if a politician wants to come in and do a tv op, screw em. Did you even read what I wrote. If they just want to do a quick photo op, tell them to screw off.Diego in Seattle wrote: Do you think LA has the LE resources right now to spare for a looky-loo photo op?

So you respond without reading.
That explains a lot.

Re: Presidential reviewing of disater areas.
A mea culpa from Obama would be appropriate-- although unexpected. Now that he's in the same position as the evil Booooosh was during Katrina, it'd be nice for him to acknowledge that his predecessor was not the genocidal balck killer he was made out to be and from with which Obama made much hay. But that'd be asking too much from a lead-from-behind President too busy golfing to attend to his fellow countryman's needs.
Just more of the double standard we've all grown accustomed to with our leaders and media.

The dems can not give up on the "all republicans hate balck folks" meme. Without a strong balck turnout for them, they are doomed. I honestly do believe that if Trump plays it right, he can win over a chunk of them. He needs to keep pounding the dems with the "what do you have to lose" line. Keep reminding them that Barry has done fukk all for them and Hillary shamelessly panders to them. He needs to go into the belly of the beast and hold a few town hall meetings there. I think he missed an opportunity in Milwaukee. He went to a lilly white burb. Should have went right to ground zero.

nah, I've said way dumber things.Screw_Michigan wrote:I laffed. I still think he can do this. Look those fukkers right in the eye and remind them that their fukking fathers and grandfathers in many ways, had it better. Even though they faced ACTUAL institutional racism, they had a much better chance of getting decent jobs and their fukking kids didn't have to sleep in bath tubs to try to fend off stray bullets. Just keep throwing actual facts at them. Remind them that the number of balcks killed by KKK assholes all through the 50s is exceeded on a typical week on the south side of Chicago.
Keep asking them if they like competing with illegals for entry level work. Balcks are easily more racist that your typical white these days. Play to it.
