Play should have never happened. The entire officiating crew should be suspended. Then again, that was the dumbest last play by OK State I've ever seen, so they kind of deserve it.
I watched the Pitt vs Penn State game. Nice to see two offenses resume a great rivalry. Perhaps next year the defenses will consider joining the fray. I'm I am now watching the single most necktacular game ever: VA Tech and Tennessee at Bristol Speedway. 150,000 fans and 300,000 teeth.

This. I would not be surprised to see the whole crew get a week off.

I attended the UConn-Navy game today. Only the second craziest game of the day after Central Michigan-OK St. Navy dominated until 5 min left in the first half, but totally fell apart the rest of the game...except for the final play of the game. UConn stupidly called their final timeout with the clock stopped with about 15 sec left. Then they ran the ball and Navy stopped UConn on the goal line and time ran out. The only big play Navy made in the last 35 overall minutes of the game.
Rack Navy!

You are truly one of the worst pieces of shit to ever post on this board. Start giving up your paycheck for reparations now and then you can shut the fuck up about your racist blasts.
Come on, Dins...I at least know it's hook and ladder although I've seen it called either name.
The MAC has gotten over with a couple of late game ref botches. That WMU win over Northwestern was tainted with the fumble in the end zone call. Northwestern puts up another stinker on Saturday...9-7 loss to Illinois...State!
Not taking too much from the first two weeks with Michigan. Colorado should be a stiffer test.
Love the Week 3 slate...FSU-Louisville, Alabama-Ole Miss, MSU-Notre Dame, OSU-Oklahoma, USC-Stanford.
It's right there in print on the internet so it must be true.
Actually though, hook and lateral seems more legit to me, since lateral is an actual football term that is used when, you know, a player LATERALS the ball. But there is no other instance in which ladder is used other than "hook-and-ladder." Why substitute lateral for ladder just for that one specific play? Doesn't make sense.
Yeah, there's a lateral involved in the "hook and ladder" play, but "lateral" wasn't part of the original name given to the play.
I suppose you also prefer to call the "flea flicker" a hand-off, lateral and pass (how do you feel about the Oxford comma?); or the "statue of liberty" a behind the back hand-off?
Sorry to ruin your self of steam, but you're full of shit. Period. End of discussion.
Sorry - dins beat me to the statue of handoff reference. But I guess you could call a fumblerooski an intentional fumble picked up by a pulling guard. Doesn't quite have the same ring to it though.
Okay class, gather 'round. Professor Mgo is teaching Football 101 today. See, there's this one play in which a wide receiver runs a predetermined distance down the field and "hooks" in toward the center of the field to receive a pass from the quarterback. If he catches the pass, he then laterals the ball to another offensive player who is running just behind him...hence the play, hook-and-lateral.
I understand that some doofus got his verbiage confused one day and called the play a hook-and-ladder, with it somehow catching on with some people. But I'm here to tell you that hook-and-lateral is the correct term for that play. A lateral is a pitch-back to another player, regardless of scenario or play-call. A ladder is a physical structure consisting of steps that one climbs to reach an area higher than one's self.
I've got illustrations at the ready if anyone requires further instruction.
Uhhh, if we are going to discuss football 101 then we use use actual terms from the rule book.
Laterally appears in the rule book in two places, in rule two discussing the low blocking zone and in rule 9 talking about a punter running laterally to the line of scrimmage. There is no use of the word lateral regarding passes.
When it comes to passes there are only forward passes and backward passes.

So the 8 person MAC crew will get the next two weekends off. The 2 man Big XII replay crew will get two weeks off and will not be eligible for a bowl game assignment this season or next.

Also, I have to say that your use of terms like "Okie Lite" and "Cougar High" is an unsavory act of elitism. I would think a Rice supporter would be above such behavior.
