Devil's Advocate:

Florida's best wins are against Kentucky and a 1 TD W over Vandy. i think the jury is out.

UGA has a 1 point win over Missouri and lost by 31 at Ole Miss. basically, same old UGA.

ATM is improved on D and could be pretty good (legit top 10)....but, we'll see. I'm kinda pulling for Trevor Knight but he can have deer-in-the-headlight games or his mechanics take a quarter or more vacation....and he starts throwing knuckleballs.

Wisky has a five-week stretch of Mich St, Michigan, Ohio St, Iowa, and Nebraska.

Granted, hindsight now shows us that MSU and Iowa were overrated to start the year.

Funny how preseason predictions usually turn to shit pretty rapidly.

Take Stanford. The Cardinal was a popular pick for many of us at the start of the season to make a push for the playoff, but it appeared an early five game stretch that included USC, at UCLA, at Washington & at Notre Dame (Wazzou in the middle of that) would be too much to escape without a defeat.

Now a month in, it appears that only one of those are legit playoff contenders at the moment (UW). Not to mention, Stanford plays Colorado the week after the ND game, none of us-- not even Mike-- would've thought the Buffs would be challenging for the Pac-12 North.

Truer words never spoken.

In fact, I'll go a step further -- even if the Buffs go undefeated, they still won't win the PAC 12 North.

Whoops.

Seems as if the association of North vs South with winter-coat-wearing-folk vs weather pussies didn't quite hold true in this particular case.

Yup, it's all one huge Phil Knight conspiracy.

Either that, it they wanted to keep the original West Coast rivals together, while at the same time greatly reducing travel.

It's got to be one of those.

based on the info around CU and Boulder when it happened, i don't think a scenario where CU went to northern Pac division was ever likely, Phil Knight conspiracy theory regardless. CU has a large SoCal alum base and that has always been part of the appeal of a move away from the Big 8/XII that was rumored around here the 20 years+ i've lived in Boulder**. much larger alum base than anywhere outside Colorado itself in the Big 8/XII footprint.

and as far as CU's team.....i think they come back to Earth a bit in the coming month...roster is pretty thin and LB play has been smoke and mirrors.....teams are getting more and more film each week.....put the over/under on CU wins at about 7.5. that said, 7 or 8 wins and a bowl....McIntyre and Darrin Chiverini recruiting off a winning season would be a huge boost to the program along with the new facilities. one big off-season challenge i anticipate will be to keep DC Jim Leavitt.

**don't forget, the Pac offered CU and Texas in 1996. CU going west has been in the works for a while.

maybe so.....i did go to grad school there and work at CU for nearly a decade after that. i was on campus 3-4 days a week for almost 15 years. most of my BTPCF friends are CU alums that's what they want to talk about when you have a beer. i'm an Oklahoma fan but i pay attention and i'm not an NFL guy so the Broncos don't interest me much.

So would you consider yourself a Colorado "fan?"

no. i follow what's going on. i've lived in Boulder for better part of my adult life and i like BTPCF.

my point in responding above was if anything to tap the breaks on the CU contending for a division title some posters had going on....sounded the same as my CU buddies instant kool-aid. 6 weeks ago they wanted McIntyre fired and now they are talking about "running the table" and projecting Montez's draft status. a bit comical.

also to point out the idea that the current North-South Pac divisions are (as schmick says) the result of Phil Knight only wranglings is not much correct....he says that CU should be in the North in the non Phil Knight masterplan universe of the Pac....but CU's interest was always to be represented in SoCal because the alumni base there is huge for boosters and donations to CU at large.
