Epic Game 5 tonight. Thought for sure LA would find a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, but they managed to hold on. I questioned many of Roberts's moves:

* Pinch hitting for Urias in an obvious sacrifice situation - why not let him bunt, stay in the game, and save the bullpen since he'd only thrown two innings and was pitching well?
* Bringing in Jansen in the 7th when they still had Baez in the pen - wtf???
* Letting Jansen start the 9th, then keeping him in to face Harper. Thought for sure Kershaw was warming up for just that situation.

May not mean much that they won this series, since they'll likely get steamrolled by the Cubs. But it's nice to see the Dodgers finally make it past the NLDS and not have the Giants or Cardinals still standing.

Hard to come up with an accurate post mortem at this point, but the Dodgers clearly had the better bullpen and Roberts seemed to do a better job managing it. I probably would have left Scherzer in the rest of the inning, but that's irrelevant at this point.

Harper's season long slump into the playoffs really hurt us. I can only imagine how much better the Nats would have been if he was at his normal excellent self. Also, losing Ramos while he was in the middle of a career year really really hurt as well.

Another year, another miserable failure by a DC sprots team. Props to the Dodgers.

Problem is now who will the Dodgers throw tomorrow? Maeda is about all that's left with Kersh, Hill and Urias all throwing last night. Would be nice if all of those arms weren't on the injured list all damn year.

Maeda will start tomorrow. Urias is probably available to start Game 2 since he only tossed 2 innings last night and is only 20 yrs old. My guess is Kershaw will start Game 3 and Hill Game 4. Wasn't Kazmir supposed to be available for the NLCS?

Doesn't matter to me as long as Chicago loses the pennant-- preferably in the bottom of the ninth, bases loaded, two outs, full count. It'd be best if it was their best hitter and he just watched the strike go by. If the Cubs win, they'll be just like Boston, just another team who wins championships. Boston was root-able because you didn't expect them to win, but rather to lose in some horrible way. Now? Shit, they're just the northern Yankees franchise with overpaid players and a team that buys wins.

I will be pulling for the injuns because I like Tito. It was kind of nice to see him wipe his cahk on the fenway drapes after the way management treated him after he delivered two WS rings.

I was thinking, bottom of the 9th, tied game at wrigley and a giant sinkhole opens up under the pitching mound. It grows and grow, eventually devouring the entire park and all its inhabitants. At the same time a 9.0 earfquake under Lake Erie creating a Tsunami that drowns everyone in Cleveland....except 88.

That would be kind of cool.

Clearly the Blue Jays will win, Americans have no real business playing baseball anyway.

Toronto's head would explode. The Jays fanbase is second in chavs only to the Leafs. Watching a repeat of '92 would be fantastic, an army of denim-clad pregnant-women smoking cigs and chucking beer cans through windows downtown woud be brill.
