'We do feel forgotten': About 1,300 Carrier company employees will still lose their jobs, despite Trump's deal

While hundreds of Carrier employees are celebrating the news that their jobs are staying in Indiana, not everyone in the company's employment was spared.

Carrier's parent company, United Technologies, is still going forward with its plan to close its Huntington, Indiana, plant and outsource 700 jobs to Mexico, according to local media reports.

United originally announced its decision to relocate the Huntington plant, United Technologies Electronic Controls, on the same day in February it revealed the Indianapolis plant's closure.

President-elect Donald Trump spent much of his campaign vowing to keep Carrier jobs in the US, and touted his $7 million incentive deal with United at the Carrier plant in Indianapolis on Thursday.

But employees at the Huntington plant were dismayed to hear they apparently weren't part of the equation.

"His whole campaign was focused on Indy," Huntington plant employee Mike Harmon told ABC2. "I never heard one thing about the Huntington plant. So yeah, we do feel forgotten."

"Everybody's down. Tension's high. Everybody is on everybody," another employee told Indianapolis station WTHR.

In addition to the Huntington closure, 600 Carrier jobs will also still be moving to Mexico, The Wall Street Journal reported.

Well that argument might hold up however private sector jobs have increased for 72 straight months.....all under Obama's watch.....meanwhile it would be interesting to know how many jobs Trump has created/eliminated in his own company over that same time span....and you have to include businesses he bankrupted by not paying them as elimination of jobs.....his bankrupted hotels also count as loss of jobs......

One could argue that it was the Congress that lead to the job growth despite having Obama in office.

But yeah let's look at some of this job growth in the private sector. Green energy jobs have exploded under his watch. Funny thing though, without grants and government backed loans for these companies, the new jobs wouldn't exist.

Green energy just doesn't work on its own. So Obama pushed for new controls and signed the Paris accord. These help to ensure green energy jobs despite the fact they can't survive without government help. Then despite signing the Paris deal, Obama supports green idiots that are closing nuclear power plants despite them having zero carbon emissions. He also supports groups working to remove dams across the country. Some of which also produce zero carbon emission power. So as we move towards the future requirements of the Paris accord to reduce carbon emissions from power generation we are also taking zero carbon emitting production facilities off line. Therefore to meet the Paris accord we will need more people working in "private sector" green energy jobs supported by government subsidies.
