It is a damn nice looking lot. Doesn't look like the same neighborhood you see in earlier pic which shows very modest old small houses on small city lots.KC Scott wrote:BSmack wrote:The guy in the Bobcat is clearing the driveway. BTW, I don't shovel. I use one of my two snow-blowers.
Good looking piece of land there Bri

Yeah that's the view out of the front window. Fortunately the back is completely different. The house isn't huge, but it is set up rather well for an old ranch house.smackaholic wrote:

Homes tend to blow up real good in a tornado.
Tractor trailers are the kites.

Re: Hatches barrened....
What are the odds of falling off a ladder and killing yourself?
About 6 years ago I made a pretty good run at it. As you can see from the most frequently posted pic on T1b, it is a pretty good drop from my deck to the ground below. I had a ladder on that deck to the roof. I was near the top of it when the ladder slid out. It stopped sliding when it hit a very solid railing post. I did not. I went over backwards, through the railing, did about a reverse two and a half, pike position, I think and landed flat on my back. Somehow I didn't break anything but still have a bit of lower back tightness from time to time. A little advice. Never climb a ladder than is not blocked from sliding out, especially if it is on a damp deck.

Re: Hatches barrened....
I said I landed on my back, not my head. I did have a tennisball sized lump on the back of my noggin, which was completely painless. I think this was from breaking the railing with my dome. I suspect it was not painful because by brain was too busy dealing with back pain at the time. Man, did that fukking suck. It was the luckiest/unluckiest day of my life. Unlucky for falling off the ladder, lucky for coming out of it alive. It is all of 12 feet from the deck to the ground. I don't recommend anyone try a back flop from that height. Especially not chubby 45 year olds. A wirey 120 lb 22 year old messican would do it for free beers.BSmack wrote:This explains a lot.

Odds of being hit by a tornado are a lot higher if you live in Missouri, Kansas or wherever else they call tornado alley, than if you live in Connecticut or California.

Odds are a lot higher of falling off a ladder, breaking through a railing and then 12 more feet to the ground - and living through it - if you live in smackaholic's house.

I am calling bullshit. Not on the story itself but your claim that a 22 year old Messican would do it for beers.
Cerveza maybe but not for beers.

Yes, it is tougher when you are stupid and that was quite stupid. Fortunately, my luck trumped my stupidity that day. I never took stats, but I would say the odds of performing stupid ladder tricks at class smack are actually lower than average going forward. Once was plenty for me.

Speaking of stupid, what dumbass thought storing flammable materials underneath an interstate would be a good idea?
