The biggest difference now is debt. As for the origins of the Native Americans, this is much more complicated than the trusty "Bering Strait " theory would indicate. From pre-historic peoples (long before the known tribes encountered by the West), to mysterious constructions (Chaco Canyon, Great Hopewell Road, the Serpent Mound--only visible from the air), to a variety of giant human skeletons found all over the North American continent, there's a whole bunch we don't know about the actual history of this planet.
