Does anyone other than Federal and State governments observe Columbus Day? For most of the country it is just another work day.

Any place with a large Italian population it's generally big deal. Big parades in NYC and SF.

I live in a town that's 40% Italian and nobody gives a fuck. It's pretty fucked up that a so-called holiday actually costs most regular money because their kids get off from school well they do not get off from work. So then you have to pay for extra daycare.

Continuation schools in CA have never had it off.

I worked in Utica for a week, about 20 years ago (what a shithole). Someone there told me that many of the upstate cities were big time mob centers. Probably where they'd go after whacking someone in Queens to lay low for a while.

Certain parts of Rochester are very heavily populated by people from the boot. Others not so much. Where I am is one of those hot spots. We got the best food around.
