Even a minimally savy computer user is able to make a PC last longer than five years.Papa Willie wrote:Not to sucking dicks (sorry MS, Screwy & Goobs), but from PC to Mac.
Fuck Microsoft. Anniversary lunched my last PC this past January (it was 5 years old and needed to pretty much be replaced anyway), but the Fall Creators update fucked me in the ass again. I had to pay a guy to fix it, and he was amazed at how badly it fucked them up. If you haven't gotten the update - and know how to stop it, DO IT.
Yes - I'm going to be sending Microsoft an invoice. Cunts.
Sincerely,
Entering my ninth year with my current PC and runs like a dream

I can understand being disgusted by Microsoft, but turning to Apple really feels like throwing your wallet at the problem and praying that the pain will end.

Shit at first I thought you were announcing your transitioning to womanhood.Papa Willie wrote: I had basically 2 1/2 albums on it in a mixing process. Certainly you can see why I wasn't too happy when it shat out.
Sorry dude, I'd be pissed too.

Mac guy since the Apple II. Never had a crash or lost data unless I did something stupid like swim with my Iphone5. Doh!
Family is also Maccentric. Dad has a 10yr Mac that still works fine. I have 2 macbook pros, iphone6+, two iphone6s and three ipads. Under 3k for the lot, most used of course.

Good for music, wytching, drafting, all that stuff, at least at the level I know about. Not sure about what the pros use.

Hey, tubby, maybe if you weren't surfing all of those scat-centric/pedo/bestiality/incest porn sites, your PC would not have been infected. I've had a handful of PCs over the past 20 years with very minimal infections. Of course I stick to adult hetero porn. Maybe you should just buy magazines.

I simply reformat the hard drive every year. Put all my important stuff on an external drive. Has worked for me.

I've had my current HP laptop since 2009, I've also had a couple that only lasted 3-5 years. Been thinking of making the switch too. Not a fan of ITunes, although I'd guess a Mac can convert music to mp3 also.

I've had my Dell since 2010 running Windows 7. When Windows 7 is finally put to the graveyard, I will likely the switching over to a Linux box unless Microsoft can sell me that their new OS is worth my trouble.

Re: I'm making the switch.
I think the rule of thumb is that every other Windows OS is absolute shit. XP was decent, Vista blew goats, 7 was solid, 8 was such a shit show they gave every user Windows 10 for free. And 10 is not bad.

So to recap: All the mac fans are happy all the PC people are either disappointed or not actually pissed off.

They're both piles of shit.

Re: I'm making the switch.
If you know what you are doing all of them are good. If you know shit about computers, please get a MAC. I encourage all my relatives to get MACs so I don't have to help them.

There is a hack to prevent automatic upgrade to Windows 8. I employed it. Very happy I did.Papa Willie wrote:THAT is what I should have done. 7 worked better than any other.BSmack wrote:I've had my Dell since 2010 running Windows 7. And Goobs - the worst thing my PC sees is your posts.

Re: I'm making the switch.
My issue with Apple is that some websites that I must use for work are incompatible with their product. It pulls up the page just fine, but when you try to fill in the drop down menu items like for an aircraft maintenance issue, it won't properly fill it in.
As it is, I end up taking both my iPad and my MS based laptop to get paperwork done when I'm overseas.
I honestly hate living in a digital world. Nothing would please me more than going back to paper and pencils.

Fail. Happy PC user for as long as I have purchased my own machines.Moving Sale wrote:So to recap: All the mac fans are happy all the PC people are either disappointed or not actually pissed off.
I also agree with Rooster that some scheduling programs we use are not compatible with Apple. I also don’t like when Apple has formatting errors with excel or PowerPoint. I can usually tell when an Apple user sends an excel spreadsheet since little things are off.
All that said, this topic is much like alcohol to me. Drink/use what you like. There are different machines for a reason and debating which is better seems silly.
