Re: School shooting in Los Angeles
At what point are parents going to be held accoutable for school shootings? Guaranteed the gun was not hers. I own several firearms and have them locked up in a safe. All firearms need to be locked up when not in use and an adult is not home. Keys, combos, etc, should not be accessible by children/teens. Parents of child shooters should be charged with "negligent manslaughter" or something similar imo. Maybe our resident attorney or law enforcement officer can chime in with something that doesn't suck.

But then you get the NRA freaks arguing that you can't have a gun in the safe if you're going to use it for self-defense in the middle of the night.Joe in PB wrote:At what point are parents going to be held accoutable for school shootings? It's not difficult to lock your firearms up in the safe or with a gun lock before leaving for the day.

The weird thing is they (the cops and the girl) are claiming she thought it was a toy gun and that it went off from inside her backpack as she set it down. It doesn’t add up.

Multiple law-abiding citizens exercising their second amendment rights could have taken out the perp before she dropped her backpack.Papa Willie wrote:Can you imagine how much more dangerous it would have been if it wouldn't have been a gun-free zone? Thousands would have died!

Exactly. It's still the parents responsibility to ensure all firearms are secured.Rooster wrote:The weird thing is they (the cops and the girl) are claiming she thought it was a toy gun and that it went off from inside her backpack as she set it down. It doesn’t add up.

Seriously? This is the back story? I haven’t followed this story beyond the initial reports and a follow-on report a few days later where the gun in the backpack went off spontaneously, striking another student in the head. It seemed implausible, but unless the gun was a SA Colt six shooter, most modern handguns have some device which prevents an accidental discharge from being dropped. All the same, I stopped following this story and hadn’t heard anything subsequently.schmick wrote:The cops and media are covering up the true story. A 12 year old anchor baby shot a 15 year old "dreamer" with an illegal firearm because the 15 year old had raped her. That both students are here because of illegal immigration the police and media did not want to go on the offense with people who would bring up the facts about those involved in the shooting.Rooster wrote:The weird thing is they (the cops and the girl) are claiming she thought it was a toy gun and that it went off from inside her backpack as she set it down. Instead, the media talks about an accident with children failing to ever mention that these people don't belong in this country
Are there any web reports out there that have covered the illegal gun & immigrant angle? I’d like to read those, shmick.

Well, I went and googled the story through to the 4th page and found nothing on the story beyond the fact that a handgun went off from inside a backpack mysteriously striking five people. That bullet has the same magical properties of the round that came from the grassy knoll in Dallas.
For whatever its’ worth, what shmick said would fill in the gaps of the why and how of this story— which is obviously missing crucial information. The question is, is it purposeful by the police and the media in the pursuit of a larger story or is this just eyewash to keep the reader content that all is well.
One funny thing I read from the LA Times was the comment from one teacher that the high school directly across the street from this middle school has “serious gang problems,” but this Sal Castro school is somehow free of such troubles. Uh-huh. Sounds reasonable...

Re: School shooting in Los Angeles
Kids don't bring toy guns to school, they bring real ones. A plastic toy gun looks and feels a lot different than a real gun which is quite a bit heavier, especially when loaded.

By all accounts, it appears to be an accidental shooting. The whole spiel about an anchor baby shooting a dreamer just fits nicely into schmuck's warped world view. You know, his typical bullshit.Rooster wrote:Well, I went and googled the story through to the 4th page and found nothing on the story beyond the fact that a handgun went off from inside a backpack mysteriously striking five people.
