What ever set of moral beliefs or compass a person has to live their life by does not have to have a label like you 'Christians". I have met a lot of "Christians" who while putting on an appearance of being "moral and upright" and "Bible reading" God fearing and would fuck their best friends daughter in a heart beat, cheat their business partner or anybody they could, and smile the whole time.

Pop, I am not calling God a liar. I am saying I do not understand or think the passages are as clear as you think they are. I can not suspend what I know is to be true, which is that the earth is a spherical shaped planet in a large universe. This leads me to the conclusion that the first few verses in Genesis (not to mention many others scattered throughout the entire Bible) are beyond my comprehension as simple as they appear. On the other hand you come across fairly arrogant in thinking you know exactly want God meant in those verses and are willing to disregard almost 500 years of scientific discovery in the process.
I do agree with you on your answer to my question.

I asked for Christians on this board to offer their take on 3 passages from Scripture.
It's really nothing to flip out about.
lol
If you are a Christian and would like to offer a take on those passages, have at it.
Those passages CLEARLY do not speak of the heliocentric model.
So what gives?

1. I have asked for people to post proof of the globe and it has not shown up on the board. So I am simply not in agreement AT ALL with your "500 years of scientific discovery" take. Post your proof of the globe.atmdad wrote:Pop, I am not calling God a liar. I am saying I do not understand or think the passages are as clear as you think they are. I've tackled this issue head-on, atmdad.
Genesis 1:14:16
Genesis 1:6-7
Psalms 148: 1-6
Where are the waters above the sun, moon, and stars located?
Why is this "beyond your comprehension?"
It is a straightforward account of God's creation.
It is only because you have placed your faith in "science" that you choose to disregard what is CLEARLY written for you to know.

As long as you ignore hundreds of facts and observations you can claim there is no proof. As long as you buy into a worldwide government coverup that would cost trillions of dollars and never has had a deathbed confession you can claim it isn’t a globe.Softball Bat wrote: 1. Do you agree that the Old Testament was written by mere humans? Isn’t every human imperfect and a sinner? Do you honestly think that what is presented in Genesis 1, 11, and Joshua 10 are mistranslations?
That might be one of the goofiest and most desperate takes I have ever read.
The Old Testament was written by prophets -- men chosen by God.
The men wrote by God's inspiration.
The transcript number and verifiability of OT Scripture dwarfs that of other ancient writings.
You just choose to try to muddy the waters, and you disbelieve the Word of God.
That's your choice.
Moses relayed the Words of God to us, not his own words.LS wrote:Have you ever been to a Doctor? If yes why have you placed your faith in science rather than rely on prayer? "Flat earth" was not a concept created by Moses.
Jesus verified Moses and Jesus verified OT Scripture.
Do you know what Jesus said each of the three times Satan tempted Him?

I understood exactly what you "meant". It just doesn't read that way. Anyway, the Bible is the Word of God. Except where it's not. Which is in a lot of places. Until you understand the way translations of language work, especially over millenia and how they get corrupted and wrongly taken, the Bible is what it is, a hot mess of stories passed down from multiple generations.
Keep in mind the classic teaching tool about stories and language. Get a class of thirty people, have one read a story, then tell it to the person next to him. Have that second person tell the third. And so on. By the time you get to the 30th person, the whole story has been completely altered.
And so in lies the Bible.

What exactly is legalistic about reading Genesis 1 and taking it at face value?atmdad wrote:If you want to question my faith because you choose to ignore the physical world around you and that I do not adhere to your legalistic interpretation
It is not written as allegory.
It is written as a straightforward account of the 6 days of creation.
Genesis 11 and Joshua 10 are the same.
They are not written as allegory.
They are written as real accounts of activity, and God's activity.
There is nothing legalistic about reading it and understanding it.
There is not even any interpretation necessary.
I don't ignore the physical world around me.
There is no science showing the earth curvature.
There is no science showing that a ball can be covered by 70% water and then spin at 1,000 mph without the water flying off of it.
There is no science showing that not only the water on the ball remains glued to the ball, but the atmosphere around the ball also moves together in tandem with the ball as it spins.
Show me the experiments.
These fantastical things are patently RIDICULOUS, yet you keep chirping about... science, science, science.
It's crap.

When have these stupid things ever been shown?

Your flat Earth idea lacks details and specifics.
The flat earth discussion(s) we've had on the board have ultimately ended with nobody being satisfied.
I only intend to speak about what the Bible says in this particular thread.
I don't claim to know for sure what the shape of the earth is.
It has been shown to NOT be the globe we are told it is.
The curvature is not there.
But my assumptions are...
The earth is mostly flat.
It is stationary.
It is covered by a firmament which contains the sun, moon, and stars.
The sun would sink under the horizon because it moves out of our view and that's what happens to objects in the sky when they finally move out of our sight -- like clouds and planes do.
Do your own research if the topic interests you.
There is an abundance of material regarding the topic online.

The reason people don't seriously engage you on this topic is because it's a fruitless exercise. The original flat earth thread demonstrated that. It goes a little something like this:
1) You ask for proof/evidence of a spherical earth.
2) Proof/evidence is provided.
3) You claim said proof/evidence is fake.
Lather, rinse, repeat. It's a dog chasing its own tail, there's just no getting anywhere with you (or conspiracy theorists in general) when no matter what's produced, you can just conveniently go to the "FAKE NEWS" card.
Let me ask you these two questions.
#1 What would you need to see to be convinced earth is spherical? Because clearly, nothing that can be provided from the internet will work for you. Would anything convince you at all, just shy of being rocketed up into outer space yourself?
#2 If you did discover that earth is a sphere, how much would that change your entire outlook on the world, religion, etc? I imagine that would throw a wrench into your entire belief system, no?

Show me the experiment.
The spinning ball with the water clinging to the outside of it.
It is LAFFABLE.
Have you thought about this?
Why would you believe such bullshit as that?
Prove the curvature.
Show it to me.
And if you want to post space pics, then I'll ask you to show me a video of a rocket going from land to space.
60 years of rockets supposedly going to space and we've still never seen that.
Does that make any sense to you at all?
NASA: We're up here now. Trust us. And this phenomenal ISS was assembled perfectly airtight by guys on cords, in space suits, with bulky gloves, right up here in space, flying around the earth. Machine shop? Naahh... we don't need one. And bring the craft down for maintenance? Naahhh... we never have to. We just fly around up here year after year, and everything stays sealed up perfectly. Seals, pumps, hoses, filters, etc... all just dandy. No machine shop needed. Nope. And we're so happy and comfortable. NASA is really smart and good, ya know?
rotf...
Are you out of the damn mind?!?
Sorry, Mgo, but most of the smart people that have looked into flat earth have recognized that the heliocentric model is a total joke.
There just happens to be a LOT of really dumb asses.
I mean, REALLY dumb.
People have been trained very well not to think.
I broke free and am able to think for myself.
Damn glad I did.

Once again, your inability to comprehend how gravity works, does not mean it doesn't exist.Softball Bat wrote:Mgo wrote:So because YOU can't comprehend physics, that means it doesn't exist. Allllllllrighty then.

It's been shown to you many times. You claim that every image and video taken of earth is fake. There's no where else the discussion can go after that.Prove the curvature.
Show it to me.
These "smart" people aren't credentialed in any scientific field. Why should I give a shit what some dumb kook with a blog thinks about the shape of earth?Sorry, Mgo, but most of the smart people that have looked into flat earth have recognized that the heliocentric model is a total joke.
Oh, now that's rich. Yes, the guy who does not question a single word from a book written 2600 years ago by unsubstantiated sources, but laughs in the face of rock solid science, is certainly "thinking for himself." Yep, that's exactly how I define independent thought.People have been trained very well not to think.
