Uppity negroes don’t annoy me anywhere near as much as quilt ridden honkeys that fall all over themselves trying to shed their guilt.

I think the whole idea of honorary doctorates is rather silly.

They should hand out honorary associate degrees. If you already have one of those and are particularly deserving of further notice, maybe an honorary bachelor’s.

Donald Trump has four of them, two from that great pillar of higher education Liberty University.
Actually he's gotten five but one apparently was rescinded.

Dr. Kanye West
Dr. Ben Affleck
Dr. Sean P.Diddy Combs
Dr. Conan O'Brien

Maybe someone could give you an honorary grade school diploma.

The same thing goes for Rev. Martin Luther King on the 50th anniversary of his death. He too has an honorary doctorate, but what I find both interesting and telling is who emphasizes which in discussing him and his legacy. I think for many to call him Doctor instead of Reverend bequeaths more gravitas than being a mere preacher. However, for a man of the cloth, I’d think the title of reverend, pastor, or evangelist would take precedence.

You might want to re-check that.
King began doctoral studies in systematic theology at Boston University and received his Ph.D. degree on June 5, 1955, with a dissertation (initially supervised by Edgar S. Brightman and, upon the latter's death, by Lotan Harold DeWolf) titled A Comparison of the Conceptions of God in the Thinking of Paul Tillich and Henry Nelson Wieman.[32] While pursuing doctoral studies, King worked as an assistant minister at Boston's historic Twelfth Baptist Church with Rev. William Hunter Hester. Hester was an old friend of King's father, and was an important influence on King.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Luther_King_Jr.

It was determined in 1991 that apparently some of his dissertation material was plagiarized, but it still was not an "honorary" doctorate.

Dr. King had a legitimate PhD. Earned it in systematic theology from Boston University in 1955. Many years after his death, there was an attempt to have it rescinded on the basis that his dissertation was flawed. But those efforts failed.
Not to repeat Mikey's correction, but MLK was accused of straight up plagiarism--the kind that would get one expelled from any decent university.

My great grandfather was a Presbyterian minister. He had a doctorate in divinity from Princeton. My grandfather told me that when someone would refer to him as Dr, he would always ask that the use Rev instead. He felt that using "doctor" was just a form of bragging.

My late father-in-law had a PhD from Eastman School of Music. Never once did I call him Dr., except in the wedding invitations that my wife and I sent out.

And just what the fukkk do you do to get a doctorate in music?

Seems kind of useless, other than maybe to stay at the school and help make new music doctors.

You do the usual deal; a course of study followed by dissertation followed by an oral examination and defense of said dissertation. His Ph.D was in music theory, so any of our opinions on popular musicians were not going to fly in his house. He taught college for a while and then took a job teaching music at a local high school in the Rochester area.

My buddy's father was a chemistry professor at UC Irvine. He had a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Chicago (also had a Nobel prize in chemistry). His friends all called him by his first name. Others, Doctor or Professor.

In Germany they're a lot more hung up on titles. I worked in a lab over there for 6 months when I was 19. The guy who hired us was "Herr Professor Doktor."

The bottom line is she got what she wanted. She understood that a shooting at YouTube would get her the pub she wanted on YouTube's censoring of her channel and no longer paying her.

I think we've been at the point for some time where 24 hour coverage on shootings only propagates the problem.

I agree about honorary doctorates. I have a BS in Agricultural Sciences from the U of Maine and 30 hours of graduate study in the SUNY system. Maybe my "title" could be Bachelor Wolfman, except Mrs.O might not like that. My maternal Grandfather was an MD. Was chief psychiatrist in the NY State mental hospital system for years after serving as a combat surgeon in WW!.
