I'm not qualified to make that decision, and neither are you. The point, as screwy said, is that we have a system for working this out that may be flawed but has worked OK up till now. We definitely don't need 5,000 troops at the border to shoot anybody trying to cross. Congress has the power to change the system. Maybe they should do their job instead of constantly demagoguing it.

If you think its' so important to stop them, why don't you grab a gun and head down there yourself. That may sound pretty ridiculous but it's also analogous to the suggestion that anybody criticizing this should open their own doors and take them all in.

You clearly have lost your sense of humor. No one would think Screwy capable of hosting anyone, much less asylum seekers.

As for the troops on the border, we should have them available at all times to assist the Border Patrol folks. Trump likely should have sent the National Guard and not active duty soldiers. Both Bush and Obama sent National Guard troops to support the Border Patrol. Same should have been done here. Bottom line is our Southern Border is wide open. Add 5,000 plus people at one or more points and we will be able to do nothing to stop them. No sane person is suggesting to shoot them. We just let them swim across the river and then round them up and send them back. If you want to claim asylum, then follow the rules. Breaking our laws before you even make your asylum claim is a bad idea.
