what are y'all cooking for Christmas?

Sounds good. We will only have the immediate family this year (four of us including the daughter who is coming up from San Diego for a couple of days)
For tonight:
We usually go out to a local French restaurant for prix fixe dinner on Christmas Eve, but decided to do it at home this year
Bone-in pork rib roast crusted with garlic, rosemary and sage
Fresh sauteed mushroom medley
Japanese sweet potatoes, baked (if you've never tried these, you need to)
Tuscan kale, sauteed with garlic, shallots and cannellini beans
Plus, a couple of red Rhone Style blends from Tablas Creek
2015 Panoplie
2016 En Gobelet
For tomorrow:
Tri-tip roast cooked over oak wood Santa Maria style
Baked potatoes with butter, sour cream and fresh chives
Caesar salad
Crusty multi grain sourdough bread
2014 Alban Syrah "Reva" from Edna Valley
I don't normally do desserts, so I bought a couple of Julian pies (quite famous around here). Pumpkin and Mountain Apple Berry Crunch.
My wife loves Dreyers Spumoni ice cream but they were out at the store so I bought three small containers of gelato - pistachio, double chocolate and strawberry - to substitute.

Tonight was a medium size gathering with friends at our favorite Mexican restaurant. We also invite our favorite server and bartenders to join us as well. We are in there weekly so management let’s them chow down with us and also have a drink.
Tomorrow will be 5 of us. A turkey breast will be smoked starting early. There will also be dressing, broccoli and rice, green beans, asparagus, a fancy salad with pomegranate and pears, cranberries, and apple pie.
There will also be wine and spirits, but not too much as the Seaters are driving to the Southwestern headquarters starting tomorrow. Should make Lubbock if we hit the road by 7:00pm.

Tonight the OL made a few different soups, and assorted finger food. Tomorrow dinner at my mother-in-laws. No clue what she's having, but I suspect it will be the typical ham with the usual sides.
88, sorry to hear about your father in law. When did he check out? And fukk you, cancer. You get a lump of coal in your sock.

Tough to pass this time of year, not that any time is better. Rack the folks that work hospice. Doubt I could do it.88 wrote:Smackaholic, he passed away eight days after Thanksgiving. Was tired on Thanksgiving, but had the whole family there and participated. Then a rough night. I took him to hospice on Friday, with the expectation he would come home on Monday or Tuesday. They could not get his digestive system to allow him to hold anything down. And he passed that next Friday.

9 of us tomorrow/ Prime rib on one Trager, turkey on the other. Venison & elk back strap for appetizers, baked and mashed potatoes, deviled eggs, pies, and alcohol.
Probably out to some BLM ground to discharge firearms before dinner, depending on snowfall.

Burger King if it's open. All the old girls who used to handle the task are beyond cooking and the younger generation of Phibettes wouldn't know a piece of meat if it got up and gave them a haircut. Just broiled veg. Load up on canapes and pints beforehand. unRACK Christmas :(

Re: what are y'all cooking for Christmas?
The wife had to show 2 of the DIL's how to make gravy from both a mix and scratch. She showed them how to make a pumpkin pie. Mashed potatoes from real potatoes. The DiL who had that chore fucked that one up too. Lumpy fucking things. These are early 30's career women who cannot make anything unless it comes in a box, and that is even a challenge.Dr_Phibes wrote: younger generation of Phibettes wouldn't know a piece of meat if it got up and gave them a haircut.
I hope these gals are sucking dick good, because my boys are not eating that well if the chicks cook. The boys do most of the cooking anyway, so them gals should do something in appreciation.
