Stock market's wild ride
So what have all you Warren Buffet wanna-bes been doing?
Have any of you actually made moves in an attempt to benfit from this roller coaster?
Seems like you could have made a ton these last few months.....if you timed it right, or lost your fukking shirt, if you didn't.
I have done what I think is the only sensible thing for someone who isn't a pro at this shit, which is tighten my seatbelt and enjoy the ride, with the hopes that when I do need to start tapping it in a decade or so, it's in good shape. Till then I will continue to plow as much as i can into it and cross my fingers.

Re: Stock market's wild ride
We have been doing the same. We put the same money in each month and don't plan to touch it for another 20 plus years. A small percentage goes to a trader who does a good bit of day trading. The way our agreement with him is, he only makes money if we do. So each quarter we sit down and look at the paper balances and he gets a percentage of the growth after expenses. If we don't make money, neither does he.

You were told before...
70% cash
30% market short
Many/most of the world markets are already in a bear market.
The U.S. markets are going down and they willl end up going down HARD.
Oh well.

Keep beating that drum. Someday you will be correct.
But your deadlines and dates to be worried about keep passing and nothing has happened. But like I said keep it up one day you will be correct and you will be batting 1 out of 763,091,347,661,202,638,567.

The ridiculous market (Dow) reached 26,616.
It will hit 17,500 before it again hits 26,616.
I'll be glad to place a gentleman's bet on that.

You did not take the bet.
The Dow did eek above 26,616.
Barely.
And then it went right back down.
The wild swings we are seeing now are clearly symptomatic of a bear market.
The reality that we are in a bear market will be undeniable as we go forward.
17,500 here we come...
And then down further.
Pain.

Zero props to you.
I gave you the chance to call your shot -- and you lacked the nuts to do so.
Dude, the Dow went to 26,828 -- which is 212 pts above 26,616
Up by less than 1%.
lol
Now it is back down by over 9%.
Congrats on your 1% gain there.
Derron, the Dow is already down 9%.
What do you need to know?
The bear is already growling.
It is more than obvious.
Do whatever you want.

You really are a sad little person. Saying people’s retirement accounts losing some value is “good times”? Pathetic. Very Christian of you.
But even at that your 15% number means little. How about we look at it since the day I started investing. In that case it is up 512%. There are some good times. It is probably up quite a bit more for the start dates for other in here given their age.
But Troll on Troll.

Thinking about Derron taking a beating in the market makes me smile.
Yes.
I am 30% short, so of course I want decline.
The market goes both ways, dude, and if you are wise you can make out either way.
If you are dumb, you get raped.
Guess which one is Derron?
But even more than that, it is simply a matter of me using common sense and TELLING you that this decline was on the doorstep.
And it is going to get a lot worse, my friend.
Derron derides me, so yes, now I laff at him about this.
I still hope he comes to Christ, if he hasn't already.
This is just silly talk in here, anyway, Lefty.
"Buy and hold" is a viable strategy, but it isn't alway sound.
For example, the Dow began a decline in the summer of 1966 and it took until 1982 for it to reach bottom.
It did not again reach the 1966 level until... 1995.
Think about that.
That is 30 years -- and how much inflation has taken place?
Buy and hold folks got SLAMMED.
Yes.

Nice meltdown, Derron.
I can almost feel your tears.
Enjoy your losses!
The markets are going to crater no matter what, and a recession/depression is also almost certainly on the horizon.
There are steps the the U.S. President should take, if we had a real one.
I am not holding my breath.
Buckle up for the ride down, folks.

The GOP ready to tank the market even further in an attempt to leverage wall funding from Democrats. This was clear with Mnuchin's buillshit emergency call to the banks on Sunday. Of course this will hurt Trump's voters more than anyone but not that he gives a shit. Who gives a shit about retirement savings when you have overt racism to champion!Papa Willie wrote:To summarize:

lol
"But the volatile stock market, which just posted its worst week since 2008, is falling in part because of Mr. Trump’s own policies, including an escalating trade war with China, a shutdown of the federal government and the fading effects of the $1.5 trillion tax cut Mr. Trump ushered in at the end of 2017. While the Fed’s rate increases have upset investors — who seem to have a darker view of economic growth than the central bank does — some analysts said Mr. Trump’s musings about the Fed would only exacerbate anxieties."

Because the market is the sole indicator of the US economy. The market makes corrections and the Shit Slinging monkeys jump up on their branches and start screeching about how it is all Trumps fault. You and Bat Shit Crazy should start writing columns and submit them to Market Watch, and you could profit from the market variations.
