Didn’t it say that she got kicked off of two powerful posts due to this lawsuit? Apparently it’s important to somebody, if not Your President.
Better check your reading comprehension there Sam.

I see that she was booted as chairman of a judiciary subcommittee and the congressional black caucus. Like I said, it appears to be a big deal to someone in power.

Re: I Guess Rape's Not A Big Deal
I think the point was that a female Dem was more interested in firing an alleged victim than pursuing the truth. It gets to the double speak of Dems.
That said I am generally not in favor of the public discussion of these types of situations on either side unless charges have been filed. We aren’t in any situation to decide who is right and who is wrong. As such it is best we leave it alone, but that isn’t how the internets work.

It was the party leadership that booted her from her committee and caucus positions. I’m not defending what little we know, from this article, about her involvement, but it seems like the party took a fairly appropriate action.
Don’t forget - she isn’t the accused rapist. The Republicans don’t seem to have a problem putting one on the Supreme Court, or electing one President for that matter.
I do agree with your last point though.

Re: I Guess Rape's Not A Big Deal
The article was quite poorly written, to tell you the truth. Very ambiguous with regards to a lot of important information.
The title calls Jones an aide, implying that he currently works directly for Jackson Lee.
The first paragraph calls him a "former staffer" implying that he used to be part of her staff, but not specifying in what capacity.
In the third paragraph it describes him as "a former employee of the foundation." There's no description of this "foundation" anywhere other than that he was the internship coordinator. No information at all about what connection this foundation has with Jackson Lee. Does that make him an aide or even a former staffer? Maybe but who knows?
The alleged rape occurred in October 2015. Doe (the victim) worked for Jackson Lee from November 2017 until March 2018, two years after the alleged rape.
She apparently was fired in March 2018 after she told "her" (assume Jackson Lee's) Chief of Staff that she was going to file a lawsuit against the "foundation." Was Jones still working for this "foundation" at the time? When did he stop working there? What exactly is the relationship between Jones and the Congresswoman, and between the Congresswoman and the foundation, which we know nothing at all about. the Chief of Staff says there's no connection between the two occurrences. Why did she wait so long to come forward (a favorite question of Republican defenders of alleged rapists)? A lot of this stuff just doesn't add up.
Like I said, very poorly written. Apparently there must be something there, or the Democratic Party's response might actually have been an overreaction.
Besides, isn't screwing your boss part of an intern's job description? Was she drunk? Was she provocatively dressed? This whole business could have been all her fault, you know.

Re: I Guess Rape's Not A Big Deal
I think Sam’s point is if SJL is a white male republican, this story is front and center and there is immediate pressure to have him resign. And not just from a committee, from the house.
A somewhat similar thing happened to a dem female white rep last year. The result was she was forced to not seek re-election.
SJL has the added protection of being Balck. I am fairly certain she’ll be re-elected in a landslide, once again in her very Balck district.

It is a double standard Mikey. Shelia wanted to stop the nomination process for Kavanaugh due to sexual assault allegations. Meanwhile she fired the alleged victim of sexual assault when said victim wanted to go public.
Again though, I don’t like discussing these things until there are charges.

Jackson Lee was booted from her leadership positions by her own party. This may show a double standard by her (and you it seems), but not by the Dem leadership.
And the article, which I've already said is very poorly written, doesn't even say that she fired the victim. It's actually implied that it may have been done by her Chief of Staff.

Re: I Guess Rape's Not A Big Deal
Agree on the poorly written article. That said this is a clear double standard by Lee. An allegation towards Kavanaugh should stop his nomination, but sexual assault in her own office isn’t worth her time at best or is worth firing the victim at worst.
Yes the Democratic Party did the correct thing. But why did it come to that, when Lee could have handled it herself?

Sounds like dude was just doing his job. I mean what the fuck is an intern coordinator supposed to do anyway ? He has to know their skills so he can place them in the correct intern position. You know damn well he had been fucking more than one in that capacity.Sudden Sam wrote:alleges that she was raped by Damien Jones, the foundation’s internship coordinator, in October 2015. Re: I Guess Rape's Not A Big Deal
My guess is he was banging the shut out of her, then moved on to the next intern and she got pissed.
Assuming this is the case, she should have told the girl, go for it, you have no case. But she threatened her, then fired her.
Kinda hypocritical from the every woman should be believed party, in’it?
Regarding your Kavanaugh jabs, this woman had her day in “court”. She failed miserably. She presented witnesses, all of whom refuted her claim. She could come up with ZERO corroboration.
In our legal system, that is a big fail.
