State of the Union Address
I realize that in recent years these things have become every bit as watchable as the average awards telecast, but holy fuck. That was one thoroughly disjointed, incredibly tedious shit-show. CNN had a very divergent group of commentators and even Rick Santorum said it was probably Cheetohead's worst speech ever. And yes, Santorum actually used the term Cheetohead. ![Mr. Green ](./images/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif)

Sadly, we are already a very socialist country and have been since FDR.
What we have now is a hard push towards full on communism.
He made some gestures towards getting market forces back into healfcare, but then he fukks it all up with the absolute ridiculous concept of "pre-existing conditions".
No insurance product allows for pre-existing conditions. It can't. Insurance is simply betting. It is playing odds. Having this pre-existing condition clause is like going to the bookie today and saying you want to put 20 dollars on the pats over the Rams. Well, yeah, we know the Pats already won, but that's a pre-existing condition.
It is simply moronic.
If he wants to talk about some sort of government funded program that would help with such treatment, do so, but don't tie it in to private insurance, as it completely inflates the rate of such insurance.
There are two ways to promote more people having insurance, which is a worthy goal.
There is the the Obama model, which greatly inflated premiums, then put a gun to your head and ordered you to buy it. It was absolutely doomed from the start as it just doesn't work in the real world.
Another model would be to completely open markets, allow insurance companies to offer reasonable policies which people could actually afford. And another thing they need to look at, and is just as important as any other part of this mess, is separate insurance from employment.
So long as your insurance company is tied to your job, you lose the one tool you have to demand good customer service. The ability to fire them.

Re: State of the Union Address
Couple of thoughts from last night's debacle:
"No bipartisanship if there are investigations." Sorry, pal. You and your organized crime family are going to prison. The time for bipartisanship was in your first two years. You can tell how important this is to him as he mentioned it early in his speech.
"If I wasn't elected, we'd be at war with North Korea." Utterly laughable on all counts.
Trump is so desperate for any sort of ratings boost that he's doubling down on being the pro-life candidate because his religious base is the only people stupid enough to remain loyal to him.
Trump's obsession with violence at the hands of illegal immigrants is disgusting. Everyone knows immigrants commit fewer crimes than native born citizens. He thinks this is a convincing argument, but only to mouth breathers like Duhron, Roostard, the asswipe in SoCal, Joe Blow and Melty.
Trump and the GOP's only platform is fear. How un-American.

No clue what her company contributes on an annual basis. We add $2500 to a health spending account that we haven’t used all of in the last 3 years. We also self insure on the dental and eye end since those products tend to be so poor in coverage.
However, as I have posted about before, my wife’s company brought some health care in house after Obamacare passed. Their plan was considered Cadillac so they had to make changes or face fines. Turns out the fines were removed later but the changes had already been made.
He company has purchased a medical practice across the street from their main office. Any employee or spouse or their kids can go to this practice and you don’t pay a dime. The Doctors are on the company payroll. They don’t handle everything, but they do things beyond your basic colds. You can see an ENT, an allergist, etc there.
So not sure what point you wanted to make, but the Seater’s costs would skyrocket with Cotex’s plan, because in universal healthcare doctors can’t practice outside the government system.

Apparently you, like most people, have no idea how much you spend on heath care currently. So your comment that your costs would skyrocket has no basis in reality.
My company currently pays 100% of my premium, which is generous, but I don't really know how much that is. Probably $500 per month or more.
When I go on Medicare in a couple of years they will credit the amount of my premium to my paychek.
Re: State of the Union Address
Being disgusted at violence against American citizens by illegal immigrants shows that he cares for the American people. For all you simpering liberals who sit around watching those border rats come in to the country and commit felony level crimes, I suppose it is all good in your world. If the illegals were not here in the first place, then the crimes are a non issue.Screwed in the Ass wrote:

Where do we start with this gem of idiotic prose ?? First of they are ILLEGAL immigrants you stupid fuck. They entered the country illegally and then committed crimes. If there are more native born citizens than illegals in the country, then it stands to reason that since the overall ratio of natives to illegals is higher, then the crime ratios will reflect that.Everyone knows immigrants commit fewer crimes than native born citizens.

Re: State of the Union Address
The illegal immigrant issue has been a problem for a long time. I remember living near the border in the early 80s and seeing illegals running through the neighborhood. Found some sleeping in the laundry room early one morning, and had my laundry in the dryer stolen another time. Sure that's not too big a deal, but I imagine it's magnitudes worse now. It also doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that a higher percentage of illegal immigrants are criminals, hence the reason they are here illegally, instead of having a visa or green card.
The fact that large portions of California no longer enforces immigration laws (including those who commit crimes) says it all about the Democratic Party, they could give a shit about citizens.
I understand California needs migrant workers, but believe it's in the best interest of the state to limit migrants to legal immigrants and those who have green cards.

You obviously don't understand how ratios work either, dumbfuck. Here's what the statistics do show on immigration and crime. A 2018 study by the libertarian Cato Institute, which reviewed criminal conviction data from the Texas Department of Public Safety, found that immigrants — legal or illegally — are less likely than native-born Americans to be convicted of a crime. Throughout the country, there is also generally a decrease in the number of violent crimes, according to the FBI.
Other studies have found that murder, rape, robbery and aggravated assault have not increased alongside an uptick in undocumented immigration since 1990, that undocumented immigrants do not contribute to an increase in drug overdoses and DUI deaths, and that young, undocumented immigrants engage in less crime than their American or legal immigrant peers.

Here's one guy who wasn't much of a fan.As is often the case in State of the Union addresses, the people who watched tonight's speech leaned more towards the president's own party, at least compared to Americans overall. In the latest CBS national poll released last month, 25 percent of Americans identified themselves as Republicans. Among those who watched Tuesday night's address, that figure was 43 percent, and Republicans helped bolster the overall approval of the address.

So yes my taxes are going to skyrocket in order to make up that company contribution. That or the level and quality of care will fall. Will there be co-pays? Will there be drug co-pays? If there are, my costs are going up. If there aren’t my taxes are going up.
However talking about this now is a bit silly since Liberals have few details if any on the grand plans.

Re: State of the Union Address
The one glaring thing about the SoU that was clearly obvious was all the HATE spewing from Democrats.
Trump: 5 million people are no longer on food stamps. Democrats: Frown.
Trump: Unemployment is near an all time low, including minorities. Democrats: Frown
Trump: We need to eliminate human trafficking and sex slaves. Democrats: Frown & shake their heads no.
Trump: We have more females in Congress than ever before. Democrats: Stand and applaud, and high five themselves.

Re: State of the Union Address
The food stamp rolls have declined by 3.9 million since Trump took office, less than 10% reduction. Some of that is from Republican states making harder to qualify, and easier disqualify current recipients.
Re: State of the Union Address
