So what?schmick wrote:My bad, he declared a national emergency on swine flu.
Swine flu, bird flu, whatever.
More illegals cross the border every year than Americans died in the history of Swine Flu
More Albanians spank their meat each week than people in Iowa surf.

Re: How's that wall coming?
This liberal posturing is just but Trump.
I didn’t see our resident liberals calling out Obama or Hillary or Chuckie when they were supporting physical barriers along the border. Of course, now that their heroes have flip flopped on the issue, because Trump, they want to act like they are all against it.
Liberals=hypocrisy.

Re: How's that wall coming?
No President has ever declared a national emergency for the sole reason of re-purposing funds over the express wishes of a majority of both houses of Congress.
Congress has the constitutional authority to appropriate federal funding. Trump will have to take money from other already committed funds to build his big beautiful wall. You guys think this is OK, but it definitely sets a precedent. The next President may think that climate change or gun control rises to the level of a national emergency. I'll wait to see your reaction then.

The president got bent over and he signed a spending bill... that nobody read.
Gotta pass it to find out what's in it.[/nancy]
In unison he goes into full dictator m0de and declares a national emergency, which is one of the most absurd moves I have witnessed any U.S. president make in my lifetime.
You "conservatives" can't seriously still support this chicken shit, can you??
This is your conservative?
Omg.
Curly, Mo, and Larry on steroids.

It sure who you are referring to when you say, “you guys think it is ok.” Certainly not me. 88 said he wasn’t in favor. So who exactly are you directing that comment to?
I don’t support the ED. I do support a wall, fence, physical barrier. But those are separate things.
My point here has been that liberals were all for a physical barrier when it was floated by anyone other than Trump. Now they want to call it immoral. So that would make them immoral as well.

So to Mikey’s point, then you would be ok with Beto claiming global warming is worth of an emergency declaration if he wins in 2024?

Re: How's that wall coming?
Donald had two years (with total gov control) to get things going with his wall.schmick wrote:I dont support the Executive Decision either and I am really starting to question President Trump's negotiation skills.
What we are seeing now is a charade.
Either...
1. Donald is incompetent or...
2. He (or his handlers) don't want the wall.
He is making total fools of those in his base who prop him up.
This shit show is an embarrassment to the nation.

Re: How's that wall coming?
This is a good idea. Unfortunately, our corrupt judicial system would fight him at every turn.schmick wrote:I dont support the Executive Decision either and I am really starting to question President Trump's negotiation skills.
President Trump shouldn't shut down the government to get the dims in Congress to agree to the wall
President Trump should have ICE start rounding up DACA and TPS recipients and deport 10,000 of them a day, back to their own countries. Choose the 10,000 of them randomly, like a lottery. Once all of the DACA and TPS people are back in their own countries, ICE should start going to public schools and start picking up kids who have illegal immigrant parents. When the parents come to get their children, they are all shipped back, as a family, to their country, 10,000 families a day.
Then, once the dims decide they want to come back to the table and fund the wall, that they wanted before President Trump said he wanted, the GOP can drag their feet for 6 months or so another few million or so illegals can be rounded up and deported or millions more can decide that they're better off going back to their countries on their own. Then the wall could be built.

This is the big story.poptart wrote:The president got bent over and he signed a spending bill
The wall is a distraction, and it isn't going to be built, anyway.
Lefties won BIGLY with the bill that Donald signed today.
It is almost as if they have one of their own in the oval office.
Wait...
Wat?

Re: How's that wall coming?
This national emergency business is a bad, bad, bad idea which will come back to haunt everyone, not just Republicans when the Democrats eventually take the White House. It sets a terrible precedent and just makes the office of the Presidency more of a monarchy. It doesn’t matter that the courts will likely stymie any attempt to get the wall built this way, it’s the very fact that it is an explicit end run around the Constitution in a power grab.
The cherry on top is that Trump had $25 billion in his pocket originally, but it wasn’t good enough for him so he held out for more— and we can see where that got him.
And the next time someone mentions gridlock on Capital Hill, I’ll be sure to point out that this is what the lack of gridlock looks like: Bad governance.
