Air Fryers

Re: Air Fryers
I cooked a 3lb turkey breast yesterday. Seasoned it a bit, then stuck it in a ~190 degree oven for about 4 hours. Then cranked it up to 325 for 20-30 minutes to brown it a bit. Was about 170 internal.
Sucker fell apart. Almost no pan drippings.
The technique works with a whole turkey, too. Set the oven to 180, and put it in before you go to bed. Monitor the temp starting the next morning. Thank me later.

Re: Air Fryers
I know it's not a real fryer, but I'm glad to hear of the good reviews. I'd like to get a "fryer" but I don't want my place smelling like a fryer for days on end.
Homemade mozzarella sticks? Hell yeah!

Yup. If you don't have a spot to use a fryer outside, you don't need a fryer. That's not even taking the mess into account/Screw_Michigan wrote:I'd like to get a "fryer" but I don't want my place smelling like a fryer for days on end.

Slow cooking is always better. Used to do that with country sweet sauce and chicken breasts. Shit crumbled off the fork and no scraping of the cooking dish. The shit just washed off with soap and water.Dinsdale wrote:I cooked a 3lb turkey breast yesterday. Seasoned it a bit, then stuck it in a ~190 degree oven for about 4 hours. Did you geniuses miss the part where he said AIR fryer?Dinsdale wrote:Yup. If you don't have a spot to use a fryer outside, you don't need a fryer. This does not use oil. It uses super-heated air. I've seen them advertised on TV, but really don't need more garbage clogging up the kitchen. I do plan on getting one of those sous vide gizmos though.

screwey said something about not liking the smell from frying. The smell from frying comes from oil. The air fryer does not use oil, so that oil smell is prolly not an issue.

Doing another batch of sous vide tenderloin steaks tonight. I’ll try to remember to take some pics of the finished product before eating them this time.smackaholic wrote:Did you geniuses miss the part where he said AIR fryer?Dinsdale wrote:Yup. It's pretty good but I just use it to make buffalo wings now.
This is exactly why we will NEVER let beaners from LA ... have citizenship in California.
They're simply too stupid.

It's a great idea and you're homeless and living in your car.
Personally, I prefer using a kitchen.

I think it’s a great idea with 50 year old cars. He does it with a new Nissan V-8. Wayyyyyyy too much electronics under there, IMO to do it.Mikey wrote:It's a great idea and you're homeless and living in your car.

I would do mom though. She had nice cans.

It is like better on something that isn’t sitting still idling. If it was rolling down the road, you’d have more heat, plus the fumes would be blown away.Papa Willie wrote:I had some friends in a band that broke down in the middle of fucking Nebraska in a truck that used this method one time (transmission blew - the engine was fine). They got hungry and cooked some burgers on a 351. Said it wasn't too bad, but they did sort of detect a gas-fume taste. That would have been a deal-breaker for me. :(Mikey wrote:It's a great idea and you're homeless and living in your car.

Maybe it would have tasted better coming off of a Chevy as opposed to a Ford?

If it was some hippie van run on old fry oil, it'd be awesome.

Re: Air Fryers
I've seen eggs and hotdogs cooked on an engine before, they pitched it as an alternative if the grill was forgotten.... I thought the watermelon pizza looked pretty good.
