When the Levee Breaks
Deadly, Historic Flooding Swamps Plains, Midwest; Nebraska City Cut
Off, Bridges Washed Out, Levees Breached
Nebraska's sixth largest city has become "an island" amid historic flooding in parts of the Midwest that has left one man
dead, forced a mandatory evacuations, breached dams and levees and may force a nuclear power plant to shut down out
of an abundance of caution.
Fremont, Nebraska, lies about 40 miles northeast of Omaha...

God hates the Midwest.
He was drunk the day he created it.

Re: When the Levee Breaks
Not much drug use is seen here.
A lot of drunks, though.
Two things are noticeable when you go into poor areas here in S. Korea...
1. If they are poor, they don't have jack shit. Many poor people in America still somehow manage to get some "luxury" items. Cable TV, satellite dish, phone, etc.
2. The poor people here still generally have a sense of pride. They don't shit all over the place, like what you see in SF (and other large cities).
Those desolate SF people have lost (or never had) all sense of pride. They don't care.

Re: When the Levee Breaks
I live south of Fremont NE.
The flooding is noted as the worst in over 50 years. The Missouri had an issue back then.
This time the Platte, which is 1.5 miles from my house, got involved.
The breached levee, less than 3 miles from me, was downstream. The other breech was about 12 miles upstream.
Reverse those, and I’d be homeless.
I had water surrounding my property on 3 sides, but it stopped about 50 feet from the house.
I retired the day before, so I didn’t need to call in...

Lots of farm land already skrewed, or at serious risk this spring.

"The worst flooding in recorded history."

I suspect Noah might disagree with that take.

Re: When the Levee Breaks
Really? Even other Mesopotamian cultures refer to the Flood independently of the Bible. There is archeological and geological evidence that such an event actually occurred.

Re: When the Levee Breaks
The news anchor didn't elaborate on his "worst flooding in recorded history" remark.
Was he really talking about the worst flooding anywhere on earth at any time in recorded history?
I suspect he was talking about the worst flooding in U.S. recorded history, but I dunno.

The Bible is not "recorded history".

Re: When the Levee Breaks
Don't be silly. A book written 60+ years after the fact, by people who obviously couldn't have witnessed what they claim they did due to age (yeah, I know Softhead -- the part that refers to the flood was written well before that, completely plagiarized from someone else's book), that has nothing in common with any (as in ZERO) of the myriad historical records of the time should be taken as law, because they used funny words and stuff...
heathen.

Re: When the Levee Breaks
The book of Acts (written by Luke) was written before Paul's death. See the last two verses of the book.Dinsdale wrote:Don't be silly. A book written 60+ years after the fact, by people who obviously couldn't have witnessed what they claim they did due to age
Paul died during the persecution by Nero in approximately A.D. 67.
Hence, Acts was written prior to A.D. 67.
Luke wrote his gospel before he wrote the book of Acts. See Acts 1:1.
Hence Luke was written in the early A.D. 60's -- around 30 years after the death of Jesus.
Matthew and Mark were almost certainly written prior to Luke, for reasons I won't bother to detail.
Needless to say, your dating of the gospels is way off.
Your take is way off.
Not surprising that you would choose to deceive yourself about these matters.
