Around my company politics and religion are no go zones. Good way to get shown the door are vocalizing your opinions. Who knows how your opinions will fit in with the company procuring our service, so when out on a trip we are Switzerland. Same goes in and around the office. If you are going to be loud and boisterous at some point it is probably hard to turn it off as well.
Worst part is having to have our HR/office manager keep track of social media of our employees. We had to have a serious talk with an employee about his social media posts when it was basically calling out one of our clients.

You gotta work one way or another and I don’t have the financial acumen to have my own business, so I offer my services to the company who best suits my needs. I’ve worked for very socially liberal companies like hospitals and I’ve worked for very conservative entities like Blackwater and everything in between. Early on in my career I learned to keep my opinions to myself and neither gossip or offer my thoughts on topics unless specifically asked by my superiors. The Army taught me that and it has served me in good stead for over three decades.

But you are not a millennial. They need to feel appreciated, they need to fit in, they have to go with the flow. Nike and Intel are their own little social societies. Being on the outside looking in is not what a millennial wants.
I have a friend who worked at Nike for a a number of years. Made major bank. Ejected with 8 years. Went to Intel and ejected after 4 years. Contracted out for a number of years and just retired at 61 with 4 million in his 401s. He has a good head on his shoulders and is a nice guy. Another friend did 33 years at Intel, retired when the millennials told him how to do his job. He is still spouting the Intel party line. Hopefully he comes correct in the next couple of years so we can have conversations again.

The freelance work I’ve done has never been in contradiction of any US laws or against our nation’s interests. On the contrary, Uncle Sugar specifically contracted us to do stuff which it did not wish to apply more... structured entities towards, instead preferring a more agile force to free up their own assets for other priorities.
You may disagree with that and that’s just fine, but you can’t argue that what I have done wasn’t sanctioned by the government.
