Ric Ocasek--tits up
Eddie Money on Friday, Ric on Sunday. This sucks.
The self title Cars album and Candy-O are still amazing rock and roll records today. The Cars were alternative before anyone knew what alternative rock was.

First off, having known people from Boston, it's Ric Ocasek... of the Cars. That's how he is/was referred to. Always.

They had some good songs after Candy-O but in general they slowed down and got way too poppy after the first two albums. Such a shame.Sudden Sam wrote: ↑Mon Sep 16, 2019 8:31 pm Dangerous Type, Cruiser, and the entire first album were great.
I’m sure there were other good songs on albums following the first one, but other than DT and Cruiser I missed a lot , I’m sure. I had burned out on the band after Candy O.

Exactly. I was a long haired southern rock and roll boy in those days, playing bass in a couple of garage bands. When I first heard Candy O, I was blown away by it. It was like you said alternative way before alternative, punk or grunge. I took a lot of shit every time I put in on the turntable, but most of the dudes grooved on it after a while.Screw_Michigan wrote: ↑Mon Sep 16, 2019 1:07 am Eddie Money on Friday, Ric on Sunday. One of my favorite LP's, I still have the same LP.
