buckeye_in_sc wrote:you are correct we are talking this year...but all tOSU has done is go out and beat who they are supposed to...amazing how much run Navy gets for beating ND, but no one else does...including Michigan, PSU, etc...
Navy? Run? They just ended a 43 game losing streak.....that's why they got run.....why should Um or PSU get run for beating a 1-8 team?
so tOSU has beaten some very good teams in PSU, Wisconsin, Purdue, and MSU (who I think is better than their record)
Very good teams? I know you're a big ten honk but "very good"????? Dude......
...while LSU has beaten Va Tech (ok they are playing better but they have never won a damn thing), pounded Miss State, beat South Carolina (who is way OVERRATED now) and a couple other cupcakes...yes they beat Kentucky
LSU lost to Tucky.....
but where are they now? Yes they beat Auburn and Bama, and UF (the three best they have beaten)...I would say Auburn, Bama, and UF are on par with Wisconsin and PSU but yet Auburn and Bama get to hang around the top 25 with 3 losses while PSU and Wisconsin get booted as soon as they lose to tOSU...would that make tOSU any better in anyone's eyes if Sconsin and PSU were still top 25 rated?
Let's see how it plays out...if tOSU runs the table and beats Oregon, Oklahoma, LSU or someone of that caliber in the MNC game then they get a little cred back...if they don't then so be it...

OSU's SOS....63

Tears, Jerry.
Uhm, dude... it's strictly a mathematic breakdown of a statistical database. I very seriously doubt Jeffy Sagarin wrote some super-secret "let's stick it to the SEC" subroutine into the program.
And this is why SEC BSH is fucking hilarious -- if someone doesn't agree that they're by far the best, it onbiously indicates some massive nationwide conspiracy.
Seriously -- do you people ever listen to yourselves? If you approached the other aspects of life the way you do football, they'd lock you in a padded cell for your own protection.
"Sagarin is pro-PAC10, and anti-SEC"... freaking priceless. Next thing you know, SEC fan will expose some plot where Mr. Sagarin conspired to burn Atlanta down...
again.

Wrong.....if you've ever looked at some of these computer polls there are many variations.
No where did I say anti-SEC....not once....it is common knowledge however that the sag will favor the pac 10 conference. It's okay.
This SEC thing is extremely old guys....it'll be settled on the field.
The question I ask......
Team A 12-1 with a SOS of 12
or
Team B 12-0 with a SOS of 63
Who deserves to play in the title game?

Come on Dins...the secret code is:
If Conference = SEC, then screw them in the computer polls, else Pac 10 gets more weight...
Rex dude I agreed that we are talking this year...but to say that PSU, Wisconsin and Purdue are not good teams...what basis are you making an assumption that they are not? Have you watched them? I have watched a ton of SEC football (due to neighbors, etc)...and many of these teams are so fucking overrated...Bama...yep...South Carolina...nice knowing you losing to a 1 win Arkansas team in the SEC...Kentucky...that thud was them coming back to earth...again why is Bama, Kentucky, etc allowed to hang around with 3 losses but PSU, Wisconsin, etc get booted out of the top 25 as soon as they lose to tOSU...that does play a role in the SOS calculations if I am not mistaken...so LSU does get the benefit of a 3 loss Bama, Auburn and UF team still hanging in the 15-25 range...
but it's all good...if they go to the MNC game and get beat so be it...if they win...make sure you stand in here like a man and take all the shit you will get (and others)...but don't worry the buckeye faithful will stand in here win or lose...

Doesn't matter how you worded it, tard. The bottom line was the same -- an anti-SEC bent.
Newsfalsh, moron -- the Sagrins generally favor the PAC10 because the PAC10, as a general rule, does the best against OOC opponents, and the statistical weighting-system reflects that.
No fucking conspiracy. No super-secret-software-subroutine... just staright-up number crunching.
Why is that so hard for you to grasp?
Oh, I see... it doesn't agree that the SEC is All Things To Everyone, which is supposed to be a foregone conclusion, regardless whether actual
facts and statistics back it up.
BTW, you raging freaking tard... just give up. I see you working. The SEC is currently the #1 ranked conference in the Sagarins, the PAC is currently 4th. And with you painting it as having some PAC10-bias, it makes your "the SEC RULEZORZ!!!!" bullshit even stronger. But here's the deal... every single person who posts here, with the possible exception of ToeJam, is smarter than you are. If you think you're going to pull off some stupid mind game/long-term setup against this group, think again. You don't have the mental capacity or overall cleverness such an endeavor would take. Stop insulting the over-70 IQ members here with your stupid fucking plots. It's fucking childish.

Both Fucko, thats the point. No one here once said LSU/Oregon didn't deserve a shot at the NC game. But just because one of them deserves a shot does not mean tOSU doesn't deserve a shot. Sure, LSU/Oregon have had a great season, but they wont finish the season undefeated. Thats whats great/bad about CFB and the lack of a playoff system. There is no wildcard, and you better take care of your shit to ensure a slot in the last game of the season.

What ever one the biased pollsters and coaches had ranked higher to start the year.

Why can't you just answer....A or B
Posted: Tue Nov 06, 2007 8:37 pm
by buckeye_in_sc
depends...neither team has control over their conference foes...
SOS is not just based on OOC games...total schedule...so Team B (OSU) can't control how bad some teams in the Big 10 are...just like LSU is getting the benefit of some lower tier SEC teams rising up this year...and South Carolina beating Kentucky, etc...
so your point?

T REX wrote:Why can't you just answer....A or B
Because it's a stupid fucking question that omits information that is needed to make the choice.
That's like asking someone; "You get a new job. Do you want a truck or a mustang?" What the fuck kind of work am I doing? You need more information to answer the question.
So if Hawaii had a stronger SOS than OSU, and both were undefeated, Hawaii should go?

I just don't know how sensitive the SOS is. I mean if Washington had beaten USC and Auburn had lost to KState how would that effect OSU and LSU SOS?

My point is obvious.....I think Shine brought it up.....
12-0 with a weak schedule(63 is weak and everyone knows it) from the sixth rated conference<12-1 with a 13th ranked schedule fromn the toughest conference
The question begs itself....

Put your sig up with the shit you're spewing. I'll take that bet and the points, if you've got the balls to back it up, chickenshit. Loser wears the sig until the MNC is over.
If you don't have the sack, then you should do what UF fan should do, and STFU.

OK, lets wait until after this weekend but I am all about a SIG bet. UM fans need anything and everything to salvage their season.

chickenshit? you should give me a chance to duck it first. i'll go ahead and hungus myself. if michigan doesn't win, i'll post my pick 'ems and nothing else, aside from an announcement 40 years from now that i'm married and just had my first child. [that seems to be a rite of passage here.]

Hungus bets are silly, and are bad for the state of this board.
Seems like a simple "I was wrong, you were right" would suffice.

I prefer the simple sig bet - where a creative, skillful crafting of an image or a line of smack has to be bourne as a sig. Good stuff.

How about an avatar bet....?
Is it bad mojo to do a real sig bet with one of my coworkers? He has this obnoxious sig right now:
HAI LTO
THEV ICTO
RSHAILTOTH
EVI CTO RSV
ALI AN THA
ILH A ILTO
(It is supposed to make the letter "M," and while it doesn't really show here, you get the idea)
So anyway, I was thinking about trying to do a real sig bet so he could show his love to all our coworkers? Thoughts?

I wouldnt doubt it.
Would be funny to.
Hopefully Michigan will get the same respect for beating OSU that FSU got for beating BC, by that I mean no respect.
