They should feel free to NOT use Pac 10 refs next time USC goes to South Bend. The Pac refs are worse than Pop Warner refs. 15 yards and an automatic first down for a bicep flex? are you fucking kidding me? And where were the holding calls in the 4th quarter, if a defender is outside the blockers shoulders and the blockers arms are still wrapped around him, yeah... that's a hold.
Its not the refs job to make the score close or the game exciting. Its the refs job to call a fair game regardless of score or talent disparity.

Did you just like throw darts on a map to pick the teams you follow?

Most sports fans start following sports as kids. At that age, they tend to pick teams that are pretty good, regardless of where they're located. And most sports fans continue (with some notable exceptions, e.g., most REAL Dallas Cowboys fans I know changed allegiances after Jerrah Jones bought the team) to follow the same teams as adults.
Lax and I are right about the same age; in fact, IIRC we were born only about two weeks apart or so. All of those teams, except for the Giants, were pretty good when we were kids.
Btw, Lax, Yanks won last night.

Most kids choose teams that are winning at the time to follow, unless there's some significant influence being exerted by the father.

I know about Lax. I was just bagging on his frontrunner days as a kid. And you are right about the influence of the father. While I enjoyed being a Houston fan in all sports, I really didn't have much of a choice. My kids will probably not be Aggies in that they attend school there (unless they want to), but they will damn sure root for them growing up and hopefully into thier adult years.

My dad was in to surfing, never really in to team sports, I just chose to like the team where I was from, I grew up watching a lot of team sports and when one cities fans would chant "Beat LA" then i figured they hated me since thats where i was from so I hated them back. I think it was during a World Series between the Yankees and Dodgers when I heard it so I just then decided to hate everyone in New York including all of their teams since they hated me.
I havent watched an NFL game since 94 because theres no team left here and the cities that have teams now have all had fans do the Beat LA chant.
I like USC cause that is where my wife and I went to school and I like the Ducks and the Angels cause theyre the locals.

Go Yankees! Beat LA Angels and then the LA Dodgers!
Thanks for making me throw up in my mouth a little for saying that.

I think the Phillies are going to be in the Series vs the Yankees and not the Dodgers. Just means I wont have to watch this year.
But if I didnt already hate every team and person in Texas I would have to now since a texan hates LA

According to Pete Carroll the play that Notre Dame used to score the first TD was a play that the Pac 10 and its officials had sent down to the pac 10 schools as an illegal play under "intent to decieve" rules. That a player hiding on the sideline was legal in scrimage plays but not kicking plays. USC and Oregon both used the play a few years back the same weekend, the next week the letter came down from the Pac 10 officials saying that on kicking plays when there were wholesale changes in personnel they could not hide a player on the sideline. Odd that the Pac 10 officials told the Pac 10 schools that they could not run that play yet Pac 10 officials let Notre Dame run that play

Or USC could have counted the guys that were on the line and then added 2 for the holder and kicker. But then again, that would be way too much math.

But JayDuck said that wasn't how it happened at all. He said the guy merely ran from the huddle off the field, and USC just assumed he'd keep running so they left him alone.
Now you're saying the guy was hiding on the sideline, then snuck onto the field.
This is precisely why I was bitching at NBC during my "in game" thread, asking for a replay that would show how that fucker came to be so all by his lonesome out there. NBC never once showed it.

I don't think NBC had that angle. Shocking, seeing as how they have such a good telecast.
I highly doubt that Parris went out of bounds then came back in. Seeing as how that is illegal everywhere.

Point is, they were told by their leagues officials, the same officials that were being used in that game, that that play was not legal. Even had they counted just the 10 players on the field, they wouldnt look for the guy standing near the sideline as an eligible player since as the rules were explained to them, that player wasnt eligible.
Carroll did say that he didnt agree with the Pac 10 officlas when told that play was illegal a few years ago after USC had used it, he just thought it was odd that they would tell him he couldnt use a play and then allow Notre Dame to do so.

I've been a Yankee fan my whole life. My grandfather worked in the stadium for 10 years and my mom went to games to watch the Mick. In fact she has all of the original newspaper articles from his career. For me, being a Yankee fan was genetic. I've also been a Giants fan which was ingrained into me from my father who attended games at Yankee Stadium many years ago. Being a Notre Dame fan is also a fatherly influence that I've carried on for 30+ years. Being a UCLA fan is due to a friendship I have with one of their coaches who I would love to see at ND doing the same thing he's presently doing at UCLA. Being from the mid west I'd love to see it but he doesn't like Charlie. I guess He'll just have to stay here and I'll keep drinking his beer and shooting jack with him during the off season.
