This is incredible.

Can anyone remember a hurricane/storm being this massive, and still being this organized, and with suck distinct circulation INLAND, WAY inland, so many hours after it made landfall?

Wow.

This storm has done incredible damage.

Just got reports from friends in North Carolina. Massive damage to homes and property. Landslides. One buddy was away and can’t get to his house because of the devastation. His place is amazing. On top of a mountain so no flooding concerns, but trees are down all around, roads blocked, mudslides, etc. He doesn’t know what to expect.

Here's your answer. It was created by the Deep State scientists (who of course don't know what they're doing) to promote their phony Climate Change agenda.

Yes, MAGA logic is a little strange.

This hurricane will go down as one of the most destructive and costly in US history.
More devastating than Katrina.

What would have made Helene more interesting for you? Exploding nuclear plant cooling towers? Dams bursting in spectacular fashion?

My god, man. Look at Perry or Steinhatchee in Florida. Look for videos of Asheville, NC. Things couldn’t be much worse.

Thoughts, prayers, and online comments are nice I guess.

But they really don't do anything. (apologies to Softball Bat and other religious folks)

If you want to actually help, and you cannot be in the disaster area to provide direct assistance, then here is how you can help.

Good man, Roux.

An extremely successful friend in NC has been sending info about the disaster. I mention his success and wealth because he cannot get to his home. There is no water, no power, few roads that are passable, nothing. If anyone could be okay thru this, it would be him. He’s trying to get help for people who have NOTHING now. No homes to go to, no access to their money, nothing. He’s been able to get some supplies in to assist his employees and their families, but it ain’t much. He said the Asheville area is unreal.

I’ve begun assessing my own ability to survive a similar flood situation. Not good. And we are near a major river with more storms brewing in the Caribbean.

It would not surprise me if they do not find all of the victims, they didn't find all of them in Katrina for example. Apparently there are hundreds still missing.

Easily one of the worst disasters in our nation's history, truly heartbreaking.

Adrenaline gets you thru the first stage of it, but that only lasts so long. The reality of it hits you, and it is overwhelming. Life as you once knew is over. It will take years to recover, and even then it won't be the same. For these people, there is life before Helene, and life afterwards.

This really sucks. I heard that the Asheville area had over 30 deaths and still counting. Basically unreachable. It’s going to take a long time to recover and I hope Mother Nature gives you all a break. Almost ironic that we’re still in “fire season” here.

I too have a friend in Asheville who is completely cut off from the outside world. She also happens to be one of my two other team members I work with in my company's division. Finally got hold of me Sunday afternoon letting me know she is ok. Said she found a way out of Asheville, about a 2 hr drive, to get to cell service, gasoline, water, etc. Filled up her SUV with as much H2O as she could for her and those around her. Regrettably, she was about to move into a new house this Friday that they just completed a new build on just outside Asheville. She has NO way to get to her new build as all roads and bridges are washed out going to it. I fear the worst as she does have a stream that runs through her yard and into the 'holler'. The 'unkown' has got to be eating her alive.

Terrible disaster that yes, will go down as one of the worst in US history.

Why should I give a fuck if they don't give a fuck about themselves. Not a single college football game was canceled the next day in southeast. In fact they were all sellouts (literally). If they actually gave a fuck about the the heavy rain and flooding they would have canceled the games out of respect for the victims. Even the pro football teams played their games in the southeast.

One game out of about 40 different schools?

Sure didn't stop Clemson and Furd from playing their game. While all the rich fucks sat in their luxury boxes and sipped champagne and ate caviar. I'm sure it wasn't any different for the other big schools in the south. It doesn't surprise me that Furd played because they're a selfish lot. The people talking about how much they cared and wanted to help but would rather watch a football game because it's more important to them.

Completely selfish act on the part of those schools. Maybe they sent thoughts and prayers before the game. So that makes it ok.

You have not the slightest idea of what you're talking about.

People who are recovering from a disaster can use all the distractions they can get, even if it is just for a few hours. They have lost so much, and you want to take away their entertainment as well?

The first game in the Superdome after Katrina meant so much to an entire region, I'll never be able to sufficiently describe it. Hopefully the victims of Helene will find some joy in football as well.

Yeah I'm sure those TVs come in nice and clear under 10 ft of water.

Fuck looking for food and shelter. Let's swim over to the bar and watch a college football game.

OK this is North Carolina, not Florida. Who’s responsible? Don’t the state National Guards have responsibility for coordinating this stuff? Again, what does Biden eating ice cream have to do with that?

The dude in the video is boots on the ground (in NC), and he is telling us that whatever the feds are doing, it is not nearly enough.
He says some helicopters are needed, and just that move alone would be enough to save a lot of lives.

I have heard from several friends in western Carolina and, to a person, they all sound shook. Their descriptions of the of the situation are mind boggling. Sounds like about as bad as things can get. No power, no water, sewage everywhere, can’t get to their homes.

One guy was in his basement. When he got out, a huge tree had crushed his roof and fallen across his bed in his upstairs bedroom.

The topography is making cleanup next to impossible.

I wonder how many Republicans voted against the $18.8 FEMA increase in last week’s budget resolution.
WASHINGTON -- FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell announced that President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. made additional disaster assistance available to the state of Florida to supplement recovery efforts in the areas affected by Hurricane Helene from Sept. 23, 2024 and continuing.

The President authorized the federal cost-share to be increased from 75% to 100% for the first 90 days of the incident period. The major disaster declaration made federal funding available for Individual Assistance and Public Assistance in designated counties, as well as the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program statewide.
