A five page thread devoted to what number a certain player wore?

You CFB dweebs have to be the biggest losers in the history of internet sports message boards.

Yup, Remy Hamilton would be my choice. With the teens coming up, I envision QBs dominating this stretch.

This is a fun topic...I wish got involved in it earlier.

If this topic had appeared in the NFL AFC West forum, you would have run it to 5 pages as well.

19 - D.J. Fitzpatrick (tough number if you have to go to a kicker).

17: Jerry Anderson

http://www.bucpower.com/feature-anderson.html

A TRAGIC TALE OF INCREDIBLE HEROISM
During the research done on the many players to have appeared only a handful of times for the Buccaneers, we have tracked down some great and some sad stories. But one that we recently found was a story of total sacrifice and heroism.

Jerry Anderson played only two games for the Bucs at the beginning of 1978 before sustaining a knee injury that placed him on IR for the rest of that season. He then failed to make the team the following fall in training camp and retired from the NFL.

On May 29, 1984, Jerry Anderson waded into a flooded building in Tulsa, OK, to carry a small girl to safety as the water rose. On May 27, 1989, almost exactly five years later, Jerry Anderson dived into the rushing, rain-swollen Stones River and pushed a young boy to safety. This time, Mr. Anderson was unable to get out of the water, and he drowned, leaving a wife and two daughters.

Jerry Anderson had just moved back to his hometown in Tennessee, where he starred in football. He was supposed to start a new job the following week, and planned to enroll in college to finish up the credits he needed for his degree.

People in Oklahoma may remember Jerry Anderson. He played on the Oklahoma Sooners 1975 national championship team. People in Cincinnati and Tampa may also remember him, because he played on those two cities' National Football League teams. He ended his playing career with the Hamilton Cats of the Canadian Football League, where a knee injury sidelined him.

Back in Murfreesboro, Jerry Anderson decided to go fishing with two young cousins the day he died. When the group approached the river, they saw that two other children had just fallen into the current. One managed to swim out, but the other could not. Never thinking of himself, Jerry immediately dived into the water to save the boy. Somehow, the exertion was too much this time, and he could not save himself. Neighbors got a boat and tried to save him, pulling him from the water, but they were too late.

According to officer Bill Todd, "Mr. Anderson jumped in the water and managed to get the little boys out, but witnesses said he went under two or three times and about the fourth time, he didn't come back up."

That's the site I've been using as well.

Toomer gets the nod, no doubt. But what could've been with Antonio Bass?

#16 is interesting.

I'll go with John Navarre. Pushed to be a starter as a frosh due to Drew (fucking)Henson's dash for the pinstripe cash. All Navarre did was establish career highs in most statistical categories in Michigan's record books. Most will be broken by Henne this year, but Navarre was steady.

Second would be Jay Reimersma. I loved this guy because he converted from 17th-string qb to TE and made a solid NFL player out of himself.

If he stays out of trouble, Adrian Arrington may garner some mention among the 16's. His chapter is unfinished, but full of poential.

16: Eddie Crowder

former OU QB under Wilkinson and HC and later AD at Colorado. had OU on the ropes several times and finished #3 in the country in 1971 when NU, OU, and CU finished 1,2,3. CU had road wins at LSU and Ohio State that year. lost twice, to Nebraska and Oklahoma in the year of the "game of the century". used to see Eddie at the grocery store sometimes here in Boulder, helluva nice guy.

not a storied # at OU, so hon. mention: Mickey Ripley from Perry, Oklahoma. my uncle. led OU on a heroic comeback in the 1968 Bluebonnet Bowl against SMU and Chuck Hixson when OU QB Bobby Warmack got hurt....to fall just short. later got beat out by some guy named Jack Mildren who went on to be "the father of the wishbone" and two-time all-american. but, just barely. Mick was a throwing guy.

I'm going with Navarre for my #16...Riemersma was an excellent tight end, one of many Michigan has produced since I've been following the team. I can't remember when this team hasn't had quality TE.

i'd like to correct something ou_skull said (he can grouse about it, but i'm right). Greg Pruitt does not gain fame from splitting time with Joe Washington. when Pruitt was at OU, he was the man. plain and simple. "the man". Joe was the future, no doubt about that. but Pruitt doubled him up in yards the only year they shared time and carries. there is no bigger fan of little Joe than me. but Pruitt was the guy. check soonerstats.com if you don't believe me.

Pru went for 2 bills against a very good USC team and beat Penn State in the Sugar Bowl.

music is lame but the Brian May snarl sound with the Mizzou Tiger mascot (Truman is looking a little mangey inna day) is a nice touch.

mY father says the same thing KC. Back then the Wrestling team lived with the freshman on the football team so he is pretty good friends with a lot of the players from that time period.
