In case anybody cares, Tiger is currently leading the first FedEx playoff event.
Tiger also made a fairly important point about his chances of running down Jack.
The Greatest Golfer to Ever Play the Game wrote:"I look at it this way," Woods said. "Hogan won all nine of his at my age and older. I think for every kid out there, the goal is to get there. That is the benchmark in our sport, and that's still my goal."
Actually, Tiger needs only to do half as well as Hogan did past the age of 34 to run down Jack. Mark this down. It WILL happen.

I'm guessing that he didn't make it out to any strip clubs last night seeing the way his round is going today.
He may catch Jack, but he blew a big chance this year with where the U.S. Open and The Open were played.

I'm not that confident that Tiger Woods will catch the Jack Nicklaus record. I'm not even confident that he will get back to winning any tournaments again. Golf is a mental game maybe more than any other. It could be that his psych is damaged and won't be repaired. From his behavior it is certain that he lost his mind. You don't do what he did and ruin your marriage and family unless you've lost your mind and ability to make normal decisions. It does seem like he's trying to stay on the straight and narrow now so I wish him the best in his recovery.
I have a miserable life and wish I were dead!

Screwey --I actually watch golf, and follow the PGA pretty closely. And if were me atop the leaderboard this morning, and I was only 4 up on The One, after Cablinasian had an absolute disaster day with the flat iron... I'd be very worried.
Yesterday was a hoot. Was like 1997 Tiger all over -- smacking a 2I or 4W off the tee (he's #1 in fairways so far, by leaving the scorekiller driver in the bag), then attacking the pin... vintage Tiger. And I'm guessing (haven't seen today's setup yet) that they have the pins set pretty easy for Moving Day. For golf neophytes (like you, SM) -- if he keeps hitting the mid/short irons like he has the last two days, and if the pins aren't jacked up (Moving Day is often easy, then they jack them on sunday, usually)... the guy who attacks the pin the hardest (sup Tiger, since that's always been his trademark), scores the lowest. Whether you're a high-handicapper weekend warrior, or #1 in the world (sup Tiger, still), nothing gets your putting game back on track like a series of kick-ins.
We're never sure which Tiger we'll see these days, but after watching dude for the last 15 years, I'd say today is setting up quite well for him.
Only one man can stop his quest to defend his FedEx Championship...

And WTF talk about Tiger today, anyway, when the big story is Dustin Johnson tearing it up, after the monster meltdown at the PGA?
Dude is the only player to hit the 626 yard #13 in two for the entire tourney... impressive.
But Tiger will definitely live too see another week (I believe Phil probably will too). Both need to get their shit together and finish near the top in the next event, or Johnson is going to take the Cup.

sorry dude, but, until you collect a major or three, you ain't the best golfer on the planet. you're just a pasty euro that's having a pretty good run during the off season. as much as i'd like to see tiger never return to form, i suspect he will this year.
good luck with that best in the world thing, while it lasts, buddy.

Just a sample.
There is more.
My belly aches from reading some of the bravado here.
Tiger hasn't won a major in 6 years now -- and he's barely really ever been in contention.
Six of what figured to be PRIME years have been pissed away.
Penis 1
Tiger's career 0
He'll be 39 at year's end, he's getting less flexible with each passing day, and each year a new crop of young and hungry kids arrive to make things even that much more difficult.
It was once a given that he'd not only catch Jack's major mark, but probably OBLITERATE it.
How's that looking now?
Jsc was dialed in to an intanglible.
That being...
Tiger's psyche was trashed.
His aura was trashed.
He was humbled as a human being to such a degree that it could never really come close to being the same.
Anyone want to talk more shit to Jsc?

nice bump of a 4 year old thread.....why not ask the people you quoted how they feel now?
I'll start it off....woods body is broken down, his back is gone, his knees are for shit, he has no confidence and nobody on the PGA tour is afraid of him anymore.....he'll still win some tournaments (assuming he can get his back issues figured out) but he should have never tried to play the PGA championship......it was painful watching him play.....he's running out of "my game is almost there, I just need to __________ (fill in the blank)
sadly he's a shell of what he was and regardless of how you feel about him personally, he is good for the game....he generates interest and viewership and that's what the PGA needs....he's not particularly liked by his peers because from what I understand he's kind of a dick.....broken down 39 year old pros should really make an effort to have better relationships with his peers.....he should also start being more kind to the public as he's the type of athlete that is extremely polarizing......but that's not going to happen.......I'm now certain that Tiger will never win another major....competition is too good and his body is just giving out on him.....I hope I'm wrong, but I fear I'm not

Tiger's demise was evident to anybody without emotional fanboyism attached to the situation. Not to take away from Jsc, but I believe it was Nick Frisco who called for the death of Tiger immediately after all the sex stuff surfaced. At least he got one thing right in nine years.

Tiger Woods shoots 82 with wayward driver and failed short game
En route to shooting the worst score of his 1,267 rounds as a professional – an 82, or 11 strokes above par –
the former world No. 1 was wayward with the driver and looking completely lost with his short game.
Forty-four of those 82 strokes came on his front 9, matching the highest 9-hole score of his career.

Yeah, I would imagine that the asians aren't all that much into golf. People aren't all that much into things they don't do well, and golf does involve driving.

South Korean woman are quite dominant in the LPGA. Their training and parental push from the time they can grip a club makes Eldrick's dad look like a slacker in comparison.

...from that fateful halftime at the Big Game in 2009.
Seriously: There should be like some kind of 30-for-30 documentary short about that game...I mean, it's really significant.
It was absolutely unheard of for Tiger Woods to be booed like that...There were articles about it...and days later, man oh man.

Now you have Chinese state run sports academies getting into the mix. I give China about 10 years and they utterly flood the LPGA with talent. By then Americans will completely stop giving a fuck whether Goo On Chin beat So Ug Lee and the tour will move to Asia.

so let me get this straight, you bumped a 4 year old thread about a sport you know nothing about.....why did you do that?
given that you featured my name in the quote, I can only assume it's to try and make me look foolish.....to what end I have no idea, but four years ago I felt that woods had the physical talent to come back, now not so much.....young guys are playing like Woods used to and Woods is the one who introduced the workout regimen that so many of todays players now emulate.....by the way, if I was going to pick a guy to be player of the year, I think I'd have to go with Jordan Spieth.....that cat is a crazy good player and he's 21 years old....
poptart wrote:I do think the Korean women do very well on the LPGA Tour, though.

South Korean women are fantastic players.....not sure what they do to create so many top flight womens players, but it's strange that it hasn't translated into men players....there are a few here and there, but nothing like what we've seen in the LPGA

Pretty much.
It's nothing personal against you, Felix.
I like you.
I just like it when people are held accountable for takes they produce.
It's satisfying to me.
A lot of takes get posted on the board, and they can easily get lost in the shuffle.
I've noticed that asinine things people post are sometimes forgotten.
In this thread, it wasn't just you.
A whole chorus of loud mouths were ganging up on Jsc.
So... it's fun to see how that looks right about now.
Not too good for the loud mouths.
