I think the only GOP candidate currently being mentioned that even has a chance at beating Obama is Romney. Him coming from a traditionally Dem state and supporting Health Care Reform in MA will help him appeal to some disillusioned Dem voters and could help him steal many of the independent voters that feel Barry is a do-nothing bumbletard. Unfortunately for Romney, it's quite likely that it's exactly those things that will keep him from winning the GOP party nod and making it on the ballot at all.

Personally, I think the battle on the right will come down to Romney, a relative newcomer like Rand Paul and a delusional Sarah Palin. And Palin may be the wild card that fucks the whole thing up and seals the deal for Barry. I can totally see her getting pushed aside in the early primaries, only to run as a third party candidate and completely tool the GOP's pooch.

If Trump gets in, I think he will overshadow the rest of the field that I currently see - based a lot on his very large personality.
He'd make his share of gaffes along the campaign trail, but he's very bright and savvy and I don't think he'd step on his dick so badly that he'd necessarily eliminate himself.

I think the guy has a GIGANTIC ego, and he sees this as the perfect time to seize the moment and ascend to the top of the U.S. mountain.
He sees the GOP field as lacking.
He sees major discontent with Barry.
He thinks the public would see him as the right kind of outsider to come in and clean house.
He sees that he might very well be able to get through the campaign grind and end up as THE guy.

I really do think he might run.

Not saying it would be what we need, but saying I could see it happen.

Agreed, though at this point I don't see much of a chance. Obama has gone straight to the middle since the health care debacle blew up in his face. My god, he's become a more lucid version of Bush. I still think it's pretty funny that he guaranteed to close Guantanamo within a year and now over two years later it's no closer to closing than it was at his inauguration.

Jindal will probably bide his time and wait until 2016 before jumping in the ring, assuming Obama is re-elected. And I really like his chances then.
