Sucks that USC lost out on Marvin Austin and Chad Jones, good get in McKnight, I bet the Corndogs are gripping. Now theyre just waiting to see what Omar Bolden is going to do, seems he is a little upset that USC offered Donovan Warren and Ronald Johnson and waited til Warren commited to Michigan to offer him a Scholie. He will probably stick with ASU but will be a good pick up for him to join his buddy Jordan Campbell and stay closer to home

O Lu was a lower division team Corps Jr year so a lot of his stats were taken with a grain of salt (which is interesting because he still played in a higher division than Clausen.) This year, O Luwent up to Southern Californias top division and Corp who didnt have half the talent around him that Clausen had at OC, willed his team to the SS Championship, then after injuries to his best receiver, he lead O Lu to the State Title and was easily the most impressive player at the State Championships games (though the lil RB from Canyon was pretty good too)
It was Corps play in the playoffs and all star games that moved him from a 4 star to a 5 star QB

I do believe Jones signing played a factor. W/ UF losing Bert Reed to us and not getting Tolliver, they actually had room for one more.
I think we will improve, but look at his options. National Champs playing WR with Tebow vs. 7-6, new staff, unproven QB race...etc. No brainer.
Thompson believes he is the best player in the Universe because that is what everyone has told him since he was six. Just because Jones/Reed committed...I don't believe that effected his decision at all. Especially the amount of true freshmen that see the field for FSU. He simply chose UF.

DOT's reporting that he committed last night and then switched today. That's why I was saying I thought Markish's commitment might have played a role.

T REX, or any Florida guys... what do you think of Nyan Boateng?
He's transfered from Florida and will be playing for Cal next year. I guess he and DJax are buds and that is one of the reasons he choose Cal to transfer too.
Thoughts?

Use average stars as the criteria, and we jump up to #6 under Rivals' analysis.

interesting tidbit
Texas had 28 kids come in for offical visits and of those they signed 24 players and one guy who will never touch the field again.
Now that is efficient recruiting.

Mack's great at what he does. I remember when Bobby had the touch as well. Texas did a great job this year, as usual.

Totally agree with you on that. I don't take too much stock in the rankings because it's up to the coaches to now get these guys to learn how to play in college.

Right. It had absolutely nothing to do with the fact Allan Wallace is a bigger Trojan homer than Lemming is for ND. Had Corp committed to UCLA, he would have still been a 3 star.

I was speaking just in terms of the Little's backing out. Chris doesn't concern me, but Greg does. He could have played early. Fuck him, he was deceptive to everyone around the ND program. Have a nice career Greg.
Had ND gotten all of the kids who told Weis they were coming, it would have been in the top 3. ND would have also had Trattou, Little, Little, Martez Wilson, Benn, Chris Donald and Ben Martin.
Getting it's ass handed to them in a bowl game, once again, killed the end of this class. I'm happy with who they got, but they need a lot more.

UF twice, Tenn, LSU, and a ROBBED Auburn team in roughly the last ten years!
Give me a break.
The SEC is the premier conference in college football. It is what it is.
I think FOUR TITLES in 11-12 years is pretty damn good.

Oregon, suprisingly, was #11 on Rivals, and #8 on Scout.
With Bellotti at the helm, that should be good for 7-6 for the next 4-5 years.
The local radio hacks were getting some pretty good laughs at the idea that Oregon went into the tank in the second half of the season, and parlayed it into a monster recruiting class, and Oregon State won 8 of their last 9, and parlayed it into about squat.

No way Auburn was beating that USC team. Auburn struggled to beat a 2 loss VaTech team in the Sugar that year.

WHat does that mean? Oh, nothing. Like getting snubbed may or may not have affected their bowl play? I don't know but then again you don't know shit either.
It's all conjecture but looking back the SEC was/is THE football conference. Sorry.

Auburn still wasnt beating USC that year. Not the way USC was clicking by the end of the year, also Auburn lost to USC the previous two years.

Yeah and Auburn got the hell kicked out of them in '04 by LSU and UGA teams that they beat in '04. USC may have beat Auburn, but I promise you it would have been a game. Auburn's defense far outclassed OU's and Auburn was never, all season, nearly so careless with the ball as was OU. Basically you know as much about who would have won that game as the squirrels running around in my front yard, so save it.

may favorite quote from rivals about wisconsin
was about them sealing their borders, and your not going to get the top talent in wisconsin under this coaches tenure.
there are only 10 fucking kids who even are ranked as 2 star or better in wisconsin. c'mon.
recruiting sites are garbage. 1 guy is a 5 star, cause he's in cali/fla/tejas, yet a kid who's a better player has a 3 or 4 star ranking, because he's playing in southern illinois.

Agreed on this point, Sam. To be honest, I'm not sure how they can do it. At the level we're talking about, all these kids look like men among boys at the high school level. Most of these kids have never had a similarly talented player on their own team or on an opponent's team, and the odds of actually having gone head-to-head with a similarly talented player in a high school game are very long indeed.
That being said, my skepticism over recruiting rankings won't stop me from pimping ND's recruits when the rankings make it suitable for me to do so.

That's been a recent trend showing that all of these kids are going to warm weather schools. Usually, there is only one or two northern schools in the top 10.

are Cal, TX and FL the top three and next are usually LA and Ohio, in either order. But when it comes to per capita signees, LA is usually about 22 per 100,000 and the next closest is something like 6.5 per 100,000. That is the last census that I have heard, but I don't see why it would have changed. Correct me if I am wrong. That is why LA teams do well.
