Part of it is a decimation of a number of industries. Another is the ability of the population as a whole to fend off future illness.

We have already seen a big rise in things like peanut allergies which could be the result of a young population that never played in the dirt with neighborhood kids like we old timers did. If we all start living our lives like the boy in the plastic bubble, it could lead to a population with shit immune systems because rather than being at the gym, their immune systems sat on the couch and ate doritos for the last 20 years.

There is part of me that thinks that maybe if we just let this fukking thing run its course as well did every other flu throughout history, we'd have had higher death tolls, most of whom had a few months or so left anyway and everyone else ends up naturally immune to the next go round with #19.
