Kamaltoe Harris was in a car accident on Monday.

Vice President Harris and the director of the Secret Service have reportedly expressed concerns over an accident
on Monday involving the vehicle Harris was traveling in after the agency initially did not disclose details about the
minor collision, according to The Washington Post.

The motorcade was delayed in transporting Harris to the White House after a Secret Service agent-driven vehicle hit
a tunnel curb in Washington, D.C., but the incident, which occurred in Foggy Bottom, was reportedly logged in an
electronic alert to agency supervisors as “a mechanical failure.”

Harris was examined by medical staff and determined to be unharmed, but damage to the vehicle’s tire was significant
enough that the vice president had to be transferred to another vehicle in order to complete her transit to the White
House, according to the report.

Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi told The Hill that the accident resulted from “a minor overcorrection”
when the driver hit a curb...

At first it sounded very dubious that it was a "mechanical failure," but upon further reading the reason of "over-correction" sounds plausible.

Video posted online taken from a Shenkman Hall room showed the incident occurred in the 2300 Block of Virginia Avenue, a car collision hot spot with a separated lane and a new bike lane that more than ten drivers have crashed into this year. Residents have painted the median and placed cones near the median, but city officials haven’t placed any signage or reflective material on the barrier to alert drivers of the pavement separation.
So it sounds like the agent who was driving wasn't familiar with that route. This leaves me with two questions...

1) Why did they take a route which the agent driving wasn't familiar with?

2) Why did they take a route that involved taking a protectee through a tunnel that likely wasn't secured?

Something tells me Bill O'Reilly's life is just fine. Rumor has it he is writing "Killing .net" for his next tome.
