That’s not a take Scott42.
"Post the best thing you saw on the internet today"
And I did. Are we supposed to post "takes" under a thread title like this? Keep moving the goal posts, lib.

I have to give credit where credit is due. This came from a letter writer in the LA Times sports section yesterday. Seems like a pretty good idea to me.
With conference realignment in a seismic state of flux why not merge the Pac-12 with the Big Ten and create two divisions. One could be called the Pac-12, the other called the Big Ten. Then, with national interest piqued, how cool would it be if the Pac-12 and Big Ten champs played every year on a neutral field in idyllic Pasadena among all the pomp and circumstance at a venerable stadium steeped in college football tradition?
With apologies to Shakespeare, a Rose Bowl by any other name would not smell as sweet.

Clever letter, but when’s the last time a B1G/PAC Rose Bowl mattered ?
I grew up looking forward to one west coast game every year…USC-UCLA. Seemed like every year it was a great game. But that was a long time ago…

From what I've heard. If it were up to the Chancellors and Presidents in the B1G. They would have taken Cal and furd before $uc and fucla. Let alone whoreagon and the fuskies. It's all about money and the networks are driving this shit show. I wouldn't be surprised if the B1G made an offer to Cal and furd now.
The B1G has a huge alumni base in the Bay area with banking and tech.

It always mattered...except to SEC and Big12 fans. I was more interested in the Rose Bowl than the MNC, mainly because the MNC was always mythical. It only started going the other way when ESPN and the $$$ completely took over. The whole thing is a fucking disgrace now.

The highlight of Arizona football's existence is getting mentioned by Keanu Reeves in Speed as having a good team.

I see the complete itinerary for the road to nowhere.
Yeah, I mean how could they possibly get a conviction for Solicitation of Violation of Oath by Public Officer?
All they have is a recording of Trump soliciting public officer/GA Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to violate his oath of office by manipulating the votes.

I saw this on a “Remembering San Francisco” Facebook page. An ad in the “pink” section of the Sunday SF Chronicle from 11/18/73 showing upcoming shows from Bill Graham Presents. It was a good time to grow up in the Bay Area.
I was at the Allman Brothers and Marshall Tucker New Years show. Opening act was the Charlie Daniels Band. Jerry Garcia and Bill Kreutzman of the Dead, and Boz Scaggs also jammed with ABB.

Strange to see Billy Joel opening for L&M, and ELO opening for Sha Na Na. Not quite Hendrix opening for the Monkees, but still...

Yeah I always considered Sha Na Na to be sort of a novelty act.
Also a little strange to see Linda Ronstadt billed third behind NRPS and Jesse Colin Young. A year or two later it would surely be different.
I saw Loggins and Messina, probably 1974 or 75 at a “day on the green” in Oakland. Opening were Elvin Bishop Band and Leon Russell.

Three Man Army. The Gurvitz brothers. Got at least one of their LPs and a Baker-Gurvitz Army album as well.
What a great period. I envy Mikey and Smackie growing up in that incredible atmosphere.

I went to see Led Zeppelin and Derringer at "Day on the Green" in 1977.
Derringer kicked fucking ass. Then it took LZ over an hour to get on stage. Everyone was fucking pissed to have to wait that long in the heat. Then when they finally did get on stage John Bonham fell over his drum set drunk. The whole stadium started booing and started screaming Derringer, Derringer, Derringer!!!
Hands down Led Zeppelin was the worst live band I've ever seen. After we found out about the fiasco that happened backstage. Bill Graham said Led Zeppelin will never play in America again. And they never did. Bill Graham had that kind of power as a promoter. His office's were across the street from my dad's printing company. And the Dead Kennedys had a place just down the street.
I always thought Bonham sucked as a drummer. And that day just reinforced it. What a shit band. Good riddance. Glad they were never let back in America to play while Graham was alive.

What a crock. Zeppelin’s tour was canceled when Plant’s son died a couple days after that concert.
Graham was definitely the biggest and most powerful promoter of that era, but he had nothing to do with Zeppelin not finishing that tour.
