Funny how the people who think we have a big impact on climate are ridiculing those who think we can affect local weather.
My take is that climate has been doing its thing since there’s been a climate.
It’s been way hotter.
It’s been way colder.
We’ve measured a general warming since the very early 1800s after centuries of overall cooling.
This warming trend started a little ahead of the Industrial Revolution. So, it’s kind of hard to pin it on CO2 levels.
So, we know it’s warming. We don’t know how much if any is our fault.
Another thing we know is that cold still kills way more than heat. It isn’t even close.
We also know that the planet is getting greener. And this is definitely purely a result of our fertilizing the atmosphere with the shit that makes stuff grow. Just ask any weed hot house grower. He bumps up CO2 to more than double the natural weather.
Here’s another thing we know. How to modify our environment to cope with what the miserable cunt, Mother Nature dishes out.
In the U&R we had a number of bad hurricanes that wiped out entire towns.
Rather than crying about climate change, the Army Corps of Engineers built a number of dams for flood control and also to generate a few electrons.
This is what places like Asheville need to look into.
There should be a good sized dam or three above Nashville that could catch these storms and turn them into electricity. Also, if we really are going to pursue a power grid run off renewables, there’s one already proven method of storage and that is pumping water uphill.
We’ve done it for over a century. It isn’t rocket surgery.
Appalachia has plenty of elevation variation and water. They could store a bunch. Cali has even more elevation and they can get the water from those soggy fukkers a little north.
The wastelands between the Sierra Madre and Appalachians don’t have much of either, but they have a metric shit ton of wind. Just pipe those electrons to where they can be stored to the east or west.
This makes more sense to me than trying to build that many batteries.

Put that post in your RACK file.
Lefties - global
cooling or
warming...ok, climate change is man made but people that claim weather can be controlled by man are fools.

If y’all don’t think multiple nations are
trying to control weather, you’re mistaken.
Behind the scenes, while statesmen argue policies and engineers build space satellites, other men are working day and night. They are quiet men, so little known to the public that the magnitude of their job, when you first hear of it, staggers the imagination. Their object is to control the weather and change the face of the world.
Some of these men are Americans. Others are Russians. The first skirmishes of an undeclared cold war between them already have been fought. Unless a peace is achieved the war’s end will determine whether Russia or the United States rules the earth’s thermometers.

I recall reading many years ago about the possibility of detonating small nukes within hurricanes to attempt to disperse them.

I have no doubt that nations and companies are
trying.
And sure, under certain preexisting conditions, cloud seeding can sometimes increase the chances of rain.
But until shown otherwise, I do not believe humans can create, stop, or redirect a hurricane.

I’m not suggesting we create or “drive” hurricanes, but multiple countries have been working for decades to manipulate the weather. That’s common knowledge.
And if Russian president Vladimir Putin has his way, there won’t be a cloud in the sky to spoil the fun. That’s because the Kremlin plans to spend $1.3 million to eliminate clouds and ensure a lovely May.
Russia and other countries do this all the time. Weather-manipulation is old news. In 2008, the Russian air force accidentally dumped a 55-pound bag of concrete — one of the substances it uses to disrupt weather — on a suburban Moscow home.
China deployed the same technology to keep the skies clear during the Beijing Olympics. Dubai seeds clouds to create rain rather than disrupt it. Thailand maintains a Bureau of Royal Rainmaking and Agricultural Aviation. Several U.S. states also manipulate the weather.

Right, and I do not dispute that efforts to increase or decrease precipitation have had some local success.
That is a long, long way from being able to change the course of a hurricane, which of course cannot be done
even if nuclear bombs are used.

I appreciate you guys trying to educate Roux on weather manipulation but I doubt it'll work. It appears his mind is made up.

Lord, Chip! I was talking about something I read 30 years ago. Absolutely nothing to do with Trump.

Didn't say you mentioned trump, and please note that what I cited provides a history of this very bad idea, all the way back to the Eisenhower Administration.

He doesn't have a mind. He has an empty bowl that is regularly filled with whatever shit his masters want him to regurgitate on command.
He's a good little parrot and gets a cracker for his tricks.

I think most modern appliances would do that.
