Chris BURKE in the Hizzy!
Rozy, if they put in Zeke, that means we're down by atleast 6 and my TV will be OFF!!
Ouch! Sanders just nailed mother earth. Word to our 4 runs, though. I didn't think that was possible vs. the Cards.

That's just the start. The Mets have a carefully-planned series of releases for throughout the remainder of the postseason to keep them in the forefront of the MLB news wire.
Should any player pitch a no-hitter or hit a walk-off grand slam, they will go to the big guns and announce Mike Piazza's retirement & coming out party.

We have defensive lapses o' plenty tonight. If Edmonds got off his ass and ran to the ball Burke woulda been out at third.

Or if Nunez didn't expect a phantom call either. Throw beat Burke by a ton. That pause cost Nunez the out.

Is it really called "Cardinal Nation" out there in the 314?? That's gayer than Liberace sporting nothing more than a crotchless pink speedo and fuck me pumps.
They call in Red Sox Nation  here in Boston. Gay. Very, very gay...

Is it too much to ask for ANY St. Louis team to NOT blow their opportunities in the post season????
It's only 2-1, but they may as well be eliminated now.
I know the FatAsssstros are a tough team, but so were the Cardinals during the regular season. Now it's as if the Rockies could beat them!

Your best opportunity to win another game comes tomorrow with Backe on the mound. After that, it's the big three again.

He did. Which was his job to do. Not exactly the type of play I
personally like to see in a Stro-Card series but good, hardnosed baseball nonetheless. He was taking him out no different than a runner does when going in to home plate.

How are we down to this Astros team????
There is not one guy intheir line-up that could crack the Cards line-up!!!
Should be able to beat Backe and then get another win out of Carpenter, but after that who knows with the way the Cards have been playing so far this series.

Ensberg was right behind him. He would have been tagged out if he had tried to return to third. Don't believe everything Steve Lyons tries to tell you.

It was dumb to even try sending him. 9 yr olds know if you're on 2nd and 3rd and a ground ball is hit to SS or 3rd you hold. Dumb play. But then again it's LaRussa and it's the post season.

What a fucking awesome experience, and no doubt the best ending to a game that I've ever attended. The atmosphere was like a Boyz 2 Men concert, but one million decibals louder and with 40,000 more white people. I'm even still shaking and shit. Everyone around our section turned butt fuck quiet when Walker pranced his way into third, but I was having none of it!
I had to go pee.
BUT, I made it back for the game ending double play and then spilled my goddamn beer! OH NO I DIDN'T!
I'm not proud of my party foul, but I'm DAMN proud of my 'Stros! Our bullpen is nailz!!
PS- Some dumb bitch behind us asked us what position "the guy arguing with the umpire" played after he was booted. "Guy arguing with umpire" was La Russa. She had to be a Katrina evacuee.

He did. Which was his job to do.
His job was to change his path in order to interfere? As you look at the replay, you see him going away from his path and towards Nunez. Away from the base and towards Nunez. He did the same thing Albert Belle did to Vina that was so decried across baseball.
good, hardnosed baseball nonetheless.
That was "good, hardnosed baseball" like OJ was "good, hardnosed marital counseling."
He was taking him out no different than a runner does when going in to home plate.
Big difference. What Lane did ain't baseball. Astrofan shouldn't be defending the move. If Tony wasn't the manager of the Cards, Lane would have seam marks on his forehead.

Sore loser, much?
I was completely amazed Pujols didn't plow right through Ausmus in the 9th last night. That pussy-assed attempt at a slide was pathetic. Pujols should have plowed him over. It just showed he isn't as bright on the basebpaths as some make him out to be or he just wasn't trying.
Either way, I would not have bitched one bit if Pujols would have given Ausmus a concussion. It's part of the game. There is little contact in this game, but when it is needed, people CAN get hurt. It's not the goal, but with no padding it WILL happen sometimes.
Breaking up an out legally in any shape or form is GOOD baseball, not bad or cheap.

Nigga please. You've seen the lovefest Card and Stro fans have been giving each other. If the Cards lose I hope the Stros have enough to beat the shit out of the White Sox. Alls I'm saying is Lane running out of his path to hit Nunez and go for his knees is 100% bitch.
I was completely amazed Pujols didn't plow right through AUsmus in the 9th last night.
Pujols is very important to the Cards. Injurying himself would be bad.
It just showed he isn't as bright on the basebpaths as some make him out to be or he just wasn't trying.
Take it from a person who watches the Cardinals; Pujols is smart and very aggressive on the basepaths. By aggressive, I mean making the other team make a play and not trying to injure the opposing player. As for trying, he's one of the few Cardinals that actually is.
Either way, I would not have bitch one bit if Pujols would have given Ausmus a concussion.
I would.
It's part of the game.
Its part of what the game has become. It ain't part of the game I prefer.

The rules are there. Whether the rules are enforced or not is at the discretion of the umps (see also phantom DPs).

All in your mind. You want to see a crybaby so you project it. I'm just bitching about Jason Lane's play. It ain't the kind of baseball I wanna see.
