how is that my logic? Youre the one that said if they a school wanted to recruit against USC they should use pictures of Compton, that was your logic, not mine. I said if they wanted to recruit against ND show the weather of South Bend, all the fat pasties walking around South Bend.
You answered that by saying youd show kids pictures of Compton to get them to not want to go to USC, so I said if ND is so against So Cal cities like Compton then they shouldnt recruit So Cal kids, tell ya what, you make sure ND doesnt recruit anybody from So Cal and Ill make sure USC doesnt recruit anyone from South Bend, Indiana

I never said anything about kids from So Cal. You started this irritating, stupid fucking argument by saying that shit about South Bend in the winter. I countered by saying ND could just as easily show kids pictures of Compton. It's the same fucking thing.

gets it...

SoCal...you going mTool on us? SC is now the greatest fucking place ever? To back up Killian you are the one who lobbed the Winter and why would you want to go there smack...I am sure the Community College of LA is a nice place but come on dude you only have room for so many kids...to logically think you are going to get everyone...that is just plain fucking stupid...oh and idiot to say something like ND shouldn't recruit from So Cal and SC won't recruit from South Bend so now you are comparing TWO MAJOR fucking cities (San Diego and LA) to South Bend...what a fucking moron...new entrant to the Board Bitch Race...

Killian...I hear ya bro...just giving you some shit on the 2 loss deal...actually it would be nice for tOSU and ND to meet up again in a bowl game this way we can run our winning streak to 3 in a row! :P

Awww fuck, now you've done it! I was actually pissed when I heard the rumors of the AD's trying to get a series started again, only to have nothing come of it. We just dropped Fredo, and I'd love to see that spot filled with OSU.

Who knows, you guys find a way to win the Big 10 and maybe we'll see you in Arizona!

Well of course it was awesome, cause we won, but I am sure Killian doesn't think it was that great.

But yeah, I was just looking at OSU's future schedules and it looks like we have some open spots starting in 2007.

I was only talking about the weather in South Bend and not the city its self, your slight on the city of compton was aimed more at the people who live in the city (which isnt that bad anymore) to which I stated dont recruit there then if you dont like those people.
OK So Cal is larger than South Bend, ND stays out of So Cal and USC stays out of Indiana as a whole

Killian wrote:ND's defensive stats are slightly skewed due in part to teams such as Pitt, Washington, Purdue and BYU throwing the ball non stop in the second half because they were down by a lot of points. And most of those yards came on long sustained drives by the opposing offenses, taking time off the clock. They didn't give up big plays that allowed their opponets to get back in the game.

And while their total defense and passing defense seem bad, their 3rd down defense is excellent. Notre Dame is currently 15th in 3rd down conversions. Opponets are 29 out of 95 for 30.5%. And before the BYU game, ND opponets were 3 of 23 when it came to converting 3rd down chances.

So while the overall stats may not look good, the defense has stopped teams when it has mattered, with one notable exception.

And please leave conjecture out of this argument. You have no idea if UF's defense would "smother" ND and if you want to play that game, the evidence is to the contrary. Two teams that are well behind ND in total offense did extreemly well against the Gators.

As far as offense vs. defense goes, you're right that you do win with defense. But I think its also easier to hide defensive deficiencies with a great offense than vice versa. ND may not have a great defense this year, but they have one that will keep them in games and create turnovers, with the help of their offense.
No.....you either play great defense or not. Giving up yards is giving up yards. And the comment that its easier to hide defensive deficiencies? I completely disagree. Defense keeps you in games regardless. There are many more examples of a great defense stopping a great offense then vice versa.....so let's not change the tune now just because you guys have a great offense and suck on D. 96th is unaccpetable no matter what amount of excuses you push on us. Just sack up already. I think that UF's offense is pathetic at times.

To a 17-18 year old High School kid what happened even as far back as the 80's is ancient history so most of those black and white pictures dont mean a whole lot. I would negatively recruit against Notre Dame by simply showing him the weather in South Bend from November to February, show the kid what sort of attractions Indiana holds for him. Then Id send someone around Notre Dames campus to take pics of all the fat ugly girls in ND paraphernalia and finally Id show the kid press clippings on all the catholic priests who have been accused of wrong doings with young boys and how the church has donemore to hide or cover up the problem than try to prosecute the whackos they employ in the backwards collars.
There are plenty of things for a savy recruiter to use against ND, Cheesesteak Charlie having a 10 year contract wouldnt stop it.

Boy this post sure brought the quality of the board down a few notches. Smack is smack and I get that. This is out of line.

nolesy: The Swiss-10 punks are all between the ages of 16-22. They are just kids. They don't know any type of line. Frankly, all three bring the board down.

Actually, we didn't drop Fredo, they're only on a two-year hiatus on the schedule. We pick them up again in 2007 and they're on the schedule through 2013, with the possibility that the series might be extended beyond that time. http://www.nationalchamps.net/NCAA/futu ... future.htm

That's not terribly uncommon for ND, even among their more or less permanent opponents, either. Some examples:

Michigan: Did not play 1995, 1996, 2000.
Michigan State: Did not play 1995-96.
Pittsburgh: Did not play 1994, 1995, 1998, 2000.
Stanford: Did not play 1995-96.

I would've hoped that we'd drop Fredo once they went to the ACC, but that doesn't appear to be the case.

And Schmick's comments on this thread are just about the dumbest I've ever seen.

Terry,

We cut the series short after 2010, sending Fredo into a tizzy. It was pretty funny.

TREX,

Agree to disagree. When watching the ND games this year, there hasn't been too many times where an offense has gone up and down the field on ND's first team defense. They do it quite a bit against the second teamers, but just look at the first half scores of the Pitt, UW, Purdue and BYU games. 10, 3, 0, and 10 points. The defense playes well early and allows the offense to build a big lead. Once the lead is built, Weis has Minter call off some of the pressure to lessen the chance of a big play.

I must have missed that one, and my link may be outdated. Too bad I missed it, in any event.

I don't get it with Fredo, in any event. Basically, they got to be a mainstay on our schedule by being in the right place at the right time. When we hooked up with the Big East for basketball and olympic sports, and bowl affiliation, we agreed to play a number of Big East teams every year in football in return. Did Fredo honestly think they were that important to us that it wouldn't matter if they jumped to the ACC?
