Nice roll eyes pal......

But let me ask you something....if you told your employer for three years that you needed something additional to make you (and your company) more successful and for three years they gave you lip service saying you were absolutely right yet did virtually nothing to improve the situation, what would you do?

I'm assuming from your responses that you would be obligated to stay.......

He told them for three fucking years that if they didn't show some desire to improve the team on the field he was going to leave.......

How much notice should he have given them?

and lets not forget managements refusal to return his phone calls...but I'm sure that was his fault too.....

I don't suppose he offered to take a pay cut so the team could afford to bring in some of that extra help he was allegedly clamoring for, did he?

Why yes he did as a matter of fact, twice...

Talking out of your ass again I see.......seriously, when you know what the fuck your talking about get back to me.......

I hope we never run out of roll eyes bud.......

Mvscal arguing about "class"? That's rich. He's never had anything positive to say about anyone, or anything.

This isn't about me, dumbfuck.
Yeah, well I made it about you, dumbfuck. It becomes about you when you lambaste a guy for something you do not even possess.

He's my hero because I choose not to hold a grudge against him for something that is inherently trivial? Did he go about his retirement the wrong way? Yes. Should I hate him for life for it? I don't see why I should. I leave that kind of useless hate for people like you. I don't have the energy, the time, or the interest for it.

I thought he was a class act who made a bad decision, as far as the timing of his retirement is concerned. But that isn't even my claim. My claim was simply harboring a grudge over the result of said decision is completely useless. I don't exactly look toward pro athletes as uncanny decision makers anyway. And I can tell you right now, as a Lion fan, and someone who interacts with Lions fans on a daily basis in the state of Michigan, that I never meet anyone who feels "fucked over" as a result of his actions. You simply making that claim does not mean people feel that way. At that immediate time there were people who were upset and confused, but what once was, is now virtually nonexistent. I'd like for you to go ahead and generate a list of people who feel that way. Of course, you don't interact with Lions fans, you don't read our papers or listen to our radio, so this should be a challenge for you. I'll be waiting.

mvscal wrote:Gee...I don't know. Maybe the fact that the only time he ever gave any money back to the club was when the Lions had to sue him to recover part of his signing bonus after he quit like a petulant little bitch.
Now that doesn't really address your original question now does it?

You asked had he ever restructred his contract to free up cap space.....

he did.

Yes, it was a bad decision. A bad decision that finally exposed him as a classless, self-absorbed fuckhead.
Ahh yes, the opinion of one bitter old fuck in southern california OF COURSE instantly turns a hateful insult into "fact". You're proficient at attempting that, but you aren't effective at it.

And no, it's not fact for the other obvious reason that the adjectives "classless", "self-absorbed" and "fuckhead" have zero factual basis in which you can derive anything from.

You have potential to be a good debater, but you argue too much with passion, which flaws your reasoning and logic.

A few off the top of my head.

Priest Holmes- Was a Raven once. Was very glad to see him out of the AFC North.

Darryl Talley- One of the most underrated LBs in NFL history.

Takeo Spikes- Will never get the run he deserves.

Carson Palmer- This kid is Peyton Manning without the hype.

I hate the patirots, but respect Brady's game. A few more years and he could be Joe Montana, Jr.

I hate the chefs, but Willie Roaf and Priest Holmes are a couple of studs who I wish were in Blue and Orange.

I don't really hate the blots... more of a dislike, but I always liked Junior. Harrison was another guy I liked to watch.

On the 'duhs, I absolutely hated but greatly respected Timmy Brown; he always scored when he played us. Of course, I lost a little of that respect when he signed on with Tampa. Gannon is another guy that I really liked watching.

Truer words never spoken.

Sanders is quite possibly my all-time favorite player to watch(or maybe second to Montana). That said, the Lions shouldn't have sued him for part of his signing bonus -- they should have sued him for those 857 missed blocks in his career. I HATE agreeing with mvscal, but that guy pretty much represented everything that was wrong with the modern athlete. Barry cared about one thing -- Barry.

Hey, remember that one time when Barry picked up that blitz, and it allowed his future HoF QB that extra time it took to make that huge play downfield that eventually made the Lion's playoff run happen?

Yeah, I don't remember that either. The RB position is about more than just dancing around looking cool and making the highlight reel. Barry "I Don't Block" Sanders just never understood this, because he just wasn't a "team" guy. Ever. A true matador of the RB world. I don't recall ever seeing Sweetness or Marshall, Marshall, Marshall (speaking of guys I dig on teams I hate) hanging their QB out to dry so as to avoid breaking a fingernail. If Barry didn't have the ball in his hands, he was easily the worst player in the NFL.

On topic -- these days, I think that Jeremy Shockey is the best TE in the game. And I hate the Giants (and Hurricanes).

And how Kevin Mawae doesn't get more love for his years of amazing play is beyond me. I guess centers just don't ever get any recognition.

RACK the Faulk reference, Dins, but Shockey ain't half Tony Gonzalez. By your own definitions.

Nobody at all on the Pats that I can think of that I respect.

Urlacher from the bears.

Brooks and Barber from the Bucs although now that they left the Norris not sure if they are a team I hate.

Favre for all he has doen I respect.

Nobody from the Vikings.
