How exactly is Notre Dame going to be #1 and win a national title?

You actually have to stop the opposing teams Offense.

Seriously, why should they be #1? because they got ass whipped by Ohio St, barely scraped by a horrible Stanford team? Lost to a Bad Michigan St team? Beat a mediocre Michigan team? Man, this ND crap is already getting steam

If ND got ass whipped by Ohio State, ND ass whipped Stanford.

As far as why they should be #1? They shouldn't, because of what you said. The defense is too unproven to put them at #1, but the reason why they will be close to that is that virtually their entire offense returns, with all players having another year of Weis' system under their belts.

You can't make a strong case for anyone to be #1 right now.

RACK.

Damn, if ever there was a year for a team to come out of nowhere to win the NC, 2006 might be it.

I see more of the usual for VT, beating the teams they should beat to keep themselves in the rankings but not doing enough to make themselves a contender. So do you have somebody good waiting to replace Vick?

With a rookie qb Texas will take a couple losses but will probably stay top10.

LSU has a bitch of a sched that will bite them eventually but I liked what I saw against Miami. They will stay top10 as well. Hopefully they start that qb from the bowl, he is better than the inconsistent Russell.

I apologize right now for only commenting on the VT portion of your take. My geographical situation only allows me time to keep up with my own school. I could give a shit and a half about the Big Ten, or Big 12, or are they the same?…I am not sure

I completely agree with you about the “more of the usual” for VT. It is unfortunate, but they have reached their peak with the current staff. However, in regards to your QB question, here goes:

Sean Glennon – solid honky that will rely on the running game to carry the offense, but can throw some passes

Cory Holt – filled in for Stompy in blowouts and such. Unfortunately I never saw him play, but I hear he is still very raw.

Ike Whitaker – freshman. For some reason, I have heard that talent-wise, he is the man. However, Beamer is ultra-loyal to older players. He sat Mike Vick because some shit-ass scrub had seniority.

Personally, I would prefer to get our learning on with Whitaker. I think Holt will be #1 QB, with Glennon #2, just cause that is how Beamer rolls.

I apologize again. No one cares this much about Hokie football except me.

USC will start in the Top-5. So, 2 losses and they are "overated". 2 losses seems realistic with all that they lose, but who knows.

Notre Dame is being talked about as a possible #1 next year? They have to be the consensous #1 Overated team. 2 losses again, at best, for them.

I see some people putting Cal back in the top 10. If that happens, they are up there, for overated teams.

How about a different topic for awhile?

Props.

I could've told you CAL was going to be overrated when my umbilical cord was cut.

1. Notre Dame
2. West Virginia will lose 2 conference games
3. LSU Games @Florida,@Auburn could end up with 3 conf losses

Disagree. In order to be overrated, someone actually has to think you're good. Well, besides m2, that is.

Terry, you're a moron.

I can forgive Magoo, Vannie, and JayDork, but for you to make this comment after the fact, is stupidity at it's finest.

Cal started the season at #10... and "The fighting ethnic group" started the season at #1,#2, and #3 in polls. Huh???

As of now, Cal is #10 and "The fighting ethnic group" is ranked lower than Cal.

If Cal played "The fighting ethnic group", Cal would win by 4 to 5 TD's. Just be happy... you're in the top 25. You beat fUCLA by 3 points in the last seconds of a game at home.

Tommorrow, you'll see how Cal takes care of fUCLA on National TV... then you can cry ignorance.

Remember the pain $C felt for showing a lack of respect

Thanks for letting all of us know... you've never been on a football field.

It's time you go to the baseball forum.

Vannie, do you know anything about football?

Edit: Rack Bethea for the "Fuck $C and Fuck LA rant"!!!

Yup. I know lots of things about football. Been following it longer than you, in fact.

Now, m2, the question really ought to be does Cal know anything about class?

Or big road victories?

Or building expectations, and occasionally even living up to them?

How 'bout winning the Pac 10?

Rose Bowl appearances?

Big bowl game victories?

Does Cal know anything about being relevant at all?

Cal definitely knows how the bottom of Tennessee's cleats feel though, of that I'm sure. I also know that forty years of oral servitude have made 'em downright experts on the taste of USC's salad...

Here you go, m2 . . .

Cal: All-time record 594-454-51 http://www.cfbdatawarehouse.com/data/di ... /index.php (I suppose props are in order -- I would've expected your all-time record to be below .500).

ND: All-time record 811-267-41 http://www.cfbdatawarehouse.com/data/di ... /index.php (Kinda blows Cal's record away, doesn't it? Btw, you might want to keep in mind that ND is one of the 20 or so smallest 1-A schools in terms of enrollment. Check out the records of the ones comparable to ND, such as Northwestern, Rice, Wake Forest, etc.)

Seriously, Terry

do you suffer from a mental illness?

What you just posted isn't even close to the topic at hand.

Coming from somebody who travels the country selling windchimes for a living, and hangs out with 16-year-old girls at Ren Fairs? Tears, Jerry. Tears.

Uhhh, you compared Cal's program to ND's, so it does. Cal's program can't hold a candle to ND's. Sorry to have to be the one who breaks the truth to you.

Cal's program is basically set up to hold candles at Pier 1 Imports, and that's about it.

The list of programs who look up at Cal is right there alongside other lengthy tomes such as "Polish War Victories" and "Iranian Olympic Legends"...

Cal just gave up over 500 yards to UCLA, right? After going to OT with the Huskies? Yeah, they're the best one loss team in the nation.

Oh, and Marshawn's favorite book is "The Cat In the Hat".
