The point at hand was your assumption that your child would be comming to you asking for permission to go to this rave. I simply stated that most kids would lie to their parents, especialy if they had reasonable cause to assume their parents answer would be in the negative. Obviously, the kid in the article had a very VERY laid back dad. A hell of a lot more laid back than either you or I would be with a 14 year old.
