Howard Stern is angry more fans haven't followed him to satellite radio. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the 52-year-old shock jock lashes out at those of his fan base who haven't made the transition to Sirius Satellite Radio.

In January, Stern moved his popular and bawdy morning show to the subscription satellite radio provider.

"I was just at my psychiatrist and I said, `I just got great news: We hit the 4 million mark. And I'm angry. It should be 20 million,'" Stern says in the magazine, on newsstands Monday.

"It's insulting to me that everyone hasn't come with me. I take it personally," he says.

"I want to say to my audience ... `You haven't come with me yet? How dare you? We're up to wild, crazy stuff, the show has never sounded better. You cheap bastard!'"

In February, CBS Radio, formerly known as Infinity Broadcasting, filed a lawsuit against Stern for improperly using airtime to promote his new show on Sirius.

Stern has claimed the lawsuit is without merit.

I'm sure it was in jest, but from what I have downloaded and from what friends of mine with sirius have said, paying to listen just for Stern just isnt worth it. He's become stale and bitter. Now does he want the 20 million listeners? Or their cash? Hell if I was Stern and I',m trying to get as many listeners as possible I'm dropping this "Everyone is stealing from me and I created everything" crap and heading at full speed onto making the show better and entertaining again.
I read the EW article today and there was a paranthetical (laughs) after his statement. Convenient that the wire report left that out. Stern blew a gasket over the wire report this morning. The EW reporter called in and everything. Stern wasn't mad at EW since it wasn't there fault that AP was selective in what they reported.

Stern got 34.4 Million shares for signing on at SIRI

http://www.forbes.com/2006/01/11/stern- ... can16.html

Stock has tanked since in anticipation of him dumping those shares into the market.

Certain groups of folks think SIRI's cash burn only gives them another 2 years before they shut the door. XMSR isn't in any better shape. The business model for this just isn't there - and it may never be.

Great for those who went short, though :D

Tanked might be a little strong.

An industry report came out that said that satellite subscriptions will quadruple in the next five years. Wish I could quote the source but I caught it on CNN when some talking heads were talking about the CBS/Stern lawsuit.

There is no denying that both Sirius and XM are bleeding money like a stuck pig but for anyone that has listened to satellite radio, there's no going back to regular radio. I haven't listened to regular radio since getting Sirius last fall. I'm sure people said the same thing about the cable companies 30 years ago. In the end, it will come down to the quality of the product and the product absolutely blows regular radio away. The deals with the automakers should bring in a lot of new customers.

Hair nation 23. Enough said.

Stern is worth the price. When Sal got caught jerkin' it to the 60 year old porn, I thought I was going to crash my car. Richard streaking the cafeteria was great radio too.

XM is for pussies....and Oprah fans.

There have been plenty of "crash your car moments" so far. There have been a few guests who on the surface didn't seem like they'd be all the good but they ended up being fucking great without the censor button. Jay Thomas was absolutely incredible. He told the funniest fucking stories. Danny Bonaduce was great. Wilmer Valderrama, of all fucking people, was awesome the other day. He basically ran down a list of all the starlets in Hollywood that he's banged and did so without a care in the world for the inevitable backlash. George Takei was piss in your pants funny with the fake Arnold calls. Richard Christie getting waxed was genius. Artie has been better than ever.

It sounds like my lips are firmly planted on Stern's crank but the show has been that good.

I loved the reaction of the old woman they were pranking. She wanted to shoot Blue Iris with about five different caliber weapons.
