Just for shits and giggles, I looked at the labels of the stuff I bought today.
The Scotch® Packaging Tape was made by slave laborers in St. Paul, MN. The Sharpies were made by 13-year-old girls making 45¢/hour at a sweatshop in Oak Brook, IL. The beef jerky and PayDays were also made in the USA, presumably by criminally underpaid employees toiling through 80-hour work weeks under Wal-Mart's evil watch.
But wait, I did buy one of those shower scrubby thingies for 94¢ that was made in Mexico. Oh the humanity! I'm such a selfish bastard.

We have these things called butcher shops. KC butcher shops...wait, you don't even know what a fucking cow looks like, so what am I saying?
I can get some mighty fine cuts with the money I saved at Wal-Mart.

Ironically, the whole reason I went to Wal-Mart in the first place was to buy a boom box. They had shit for a selection, so I ended up buying a Sony boom box (made in China) at a local electronics store. Since I bought it from a local store, I'm sure the Chinamen who assembled it are treated with the utmost respect and dignity and are paid a fair wage.

Off topic, but fucking kills me up in here, is this strange thought process that leads the Midwesterners to somehow believe they're somehow better at growing fucking cows than anywhere else on earth.
Priceless. It's a fucking cow, douchebags. The only cows you grow any different from anywhere else is the ones you have pushing your cart and kids around WalMart.
It's a fucking cow.

We grow pigs, hogs, and chickens better, too...and we know how to cook 'em and serve 'em up better.
I bet you didn't know there was a difference between a pig and a hog....
We midwesterners eat better than you sushi slurping, bird seed salad bar re-visiting, yogurt imbibing, tree-huuging U&L faggots ever will, and that's a fact.

I'm from the midwest, and I like sushi, salad and yogurt. In fact, I had yogurt for breakfast, sushi for lunch and a Qdoba salad for dinner.

More fucking Wal-Mart bashing.
Let me save all of you alot of time.
Things you buy at Wally World:
Name brand products that are the same there as anywhere else, as long as they have the lower price.
Soda, candy, soap, etc. A can of Coke is the same, no matter where you buy it. So is a fucking Snickers bar, or a bar of Dove soap.
Things you DO NOT buy at Wally World:
Clothes you will be wearing while doing anything besides cutting the lawn, painting, or the like.
Anything with a cord, or a model #.
Anything that involves you needing to discuss your purchase decision with an employee.
I swear some you are just total morons. Use Wal-Mart for low every day prices on the shit you would buy and get screwed elsewhere.
Shop elsewhere, and know that while you are probably getting screwed, for those products, where quality and service are concerns, you saved enough at Wally World on other crap, that you dont care if you over pay when it really counts.

Super Wal-marts... are a good indicator of how well you're doing in life.
If you have a bunch... you probably need them(figuratively speaking).
If you don't have any(sup' Bay Area) or very few... you're probably pretty well off financially.
Does anyone see a common denominator here???

Edward Jones. It is an investment company. One of the many headquartered in this town. I understand that investments in KC are limited to "Dale Earnhardt Franklin Mint Plates" so you may have been confused.

Complete agreement. Not that general tailgate environ alters my own tailgate.

I'll gladly give you '85 if it means we wouldn't have to suffer through 20 years of ineffectual baseball. St. Louis is a baseball town. KC is a football town. Sure, St. Louis visits the playoffs much more in both sports, but the baseball is more important to us.

you don't have any alternatives in the lafayette area? shit, i'd rather give my money to fred meijer than sam walton. even though the meijer family flashes their cash all over west michigan with donations requiring the family name, at least they give back to the local commune. more than what sam can say, regardless of the propaganda wal-mart puts out.

The state I live in grows better poultry BY FAR. We kinda have these laws that place quality and health ahead of quantity. Matter of fact, I can buy
several Midwest chickens for the price of one locally grown chicken.
And it ain't because the Midwest chicken is better...
obviously.

Funny how you don't hear about any other big box or national chain anything for that matter catching any shit besides Wal-Mart.
TTB, what you don't "hear" could fill books. Hell, it already does.
Yet, let some podunk municipality in a state you don't live in ban smoking and prick up your ears...well, Sean Hannity's ears, then your ears...and you're a few beats away from aneurysm?
Shit - the next thing you "hear" that isn't ground up for your consumption according to some demogogue's recipe will be the first.

SF is an amazing city. The wealth of small business restaurants, grocery stores, and the like is kind of astonishing. I think that to the extent they have avoided the fast food chain blight, they should be applauded.
There are chain retailers in the Bay Area, but not a lot of them. All things said, it's good when a local economy can flourish, few people would deny that. If folks in the Bay Area want to preserve that and indeed expand on the concept, then I fail to see how that's a bad thing.

But maybe the smart, well off people are really, really afraid of what will happen if Wal-Mart opens a store in their neighborhood. Maybe they think Wal-Mart has imported enough "Red" state morons to live in their midst that a Bay area Wal-Mart will fluorish.

Senators approved Senator Rob Marionneaux's plan to prohibit smoking in all restaurants but allow smoking in bars and casinos, cigar shops, and hotel and motel rooms. Marionneaux cited several polls conducted by anti-smoking groups showing that a majority of residents in Louisiana's cities support such a ban.
The measure passed on a 36-2 vote.

You would rather force a bunch of quaint, inefficient and expensive stores on a population of people who, if given the
choice, would choose to purchase staple goods at lower cost from an ugly "big box" store. That is the elitist way of thinking. You won't let people make their own purchasing decisions because it might make
your shopping experience less enjoyable because
your quaint, inefficient, overpriced little stores might go out of business. Boo fucking hoo.
Read back a little and see where I told the group I shop.

Your beef isn't with Wal-Mart.
For my part, yes, it is with Walmart. I am not concerned with what they're offering, but with how they obtain it, manufacture it, warehouse it, and sell it with their workforce.
