Martyred, maybe what you're experiencing now with Tom and your "history" is just more wind being sowed, eh??

I agree. Tom is better than that shit.

Martyr is a troll as much as we are all trolls. Martyr may be playing an extra game given the 'perk/not-perk' issue, but why believe Martyr is trolling all the time? especially if Martyr is a Canadian? The only thing unusual about Martyr would be if he/she were a chickenhawk for the Iraq war, and pulled the 'US President: right or wrong' card. How many of the Canadians who post here are lockstep, or have ever been lockstep with the US government?

So why not assume Martyr is being sincere on this one, Tom?

As for the other shit, dumped by other people, why mention Kerry? it's Bush who is president. This is his baby. He started it -- not Kerry. Bush says he's not going to finish it and that he never intended to finish it.
Tom in VA wrote:However these men are treated, will be status quo at a minimum, for their captors and have little or nothing to do with "retaliation".
Why capture them in the first place, and kill their driver in cold blood -- as that farmer claims he witnessed the kidnappers do -- if there wasn't 'retaliation' on the minds of the kidnappers in the first place? This was a carjack; this was an intentional kidnapping. So why do abductors kidnap in the first place, during a state of war?

What do the kidnappers want, and what will they do those they have captured -- especially since they were willing to shoot the driver immediately -- what is 'status quo' in a situation like that?

Guilty as charged. As a cultural society, yep, we suck really badly in many ways. As a society we've managed to deify and in some cases even successfully export McDonald's, "Survivor", Disneyland, "Star Wars", Harley-Davidson, Hip Hop Culture, Nascar Culture, "Queer Eye", rampant crime, Kiss, Paris Hilton, "TomKat" and Jerry Springer.

Martyr is only saying that the United States has sown nettle in it's narrow vision of the treatment of prisoners. The United States cannot wring its hands and pray for mercy only to lash out and spit upon our soldiers capture when they are treated in a less than exemplary fashion by their captors.
I agree, we cannot expect compassion from our enemy. Now that that's clear can someone get Bush to execute all the prisoners in Guantanamo..or at least let them continue to off themselves in a orderly fashion.

The US is in a sticky wicket forever more -- our soldiers and our citizens abroad are in a sticky wicket forever more -- because of this administration's asinine decision to say the Geneva Convention applies to everyone but us.
Oh good grief, grow a pair. We've been in a "sticky wicket" since the terrorists decided to link us with their holy war on Israel. Its no particular administration's fault. Ask Osama himself, he'll tell you its been our long standing policies around the world that have led to our being "targeted".

Osama is like Jesse Jackson. They have to have a "boogieman" to stay in business.. :)

Van, trying to paint with a broad brush much? Say it ain't so.

Methinks your overly loquacious self went too far in making what was otherwise a damned fine point.

You don't have to apologize or make excuses for anything that says "Made in the USA". No need to speak with forked tongue, paleface.

Here's another attempt. Those soldiers that you honor? They're fighting and dying for Harley-Davidson, McDonalds, NASCAR, and yes, even Wal-Mart employees and customers.

You see right through me.

This "Marty" is going to call people on information he's culled about them over a period of years. Challenge them on those things ... past and present ... and then get upset when I call him a "cunt". Reaping indeed.

Marty,

Never called you a "shit" troll. You're a very good troll, very skilled at the art.

Unless you're a female you shouldn't be too concerned about me calling you a "cunt". Even between my real life bros there's a few "You dumb cunt" thrown around.

That's a lot of gas, Van, and basically crap.

You're sort of like Ayn Rand, 'cept queer like Rove. Your absurdly imperialist take on American history is childish at best--sort of like Rusp Limpdick. The examples you roll out are each easily refuted--such as the actual hegemenous sway America has always held over Canada and Mexico--for starters.

You don't dare examine, let alone admit, the joined-at-the-hip relationship that existed between Ken Lay and Dick Cheney--so, really, stop trying to pretend you've some solid base for your blusterous neocon nonsense. You don't.

Your attack is pure Rove--er, Goering. "They hate America!"

You're a shameless punk. And a total racist as well. Or, properly, an anti-Semite. Or didn't you think those Arabs you hate so much are Semites?

The American soldiers captured weren't taken by a government, or a "people." Rather, the friends, relatives and countrymen of the same folks we've been terrorizing for the past three years--murdering thousands and destroying their nation like the Nazis in Warsaw '40.

Will their deaths be somehow more significant than those hundreds and thousands of American soldiers who've been killed in rollovers, suicides, and through sickness?

Only by locking up this current cabal--Project For The New American Century--can we begin to repair its damage to our country and the world.

WAKE THE FUCK UP!!

No, not entirely, which is why I didn't include them in the Nascar group. H-D people are FAR more Status Conscious people than Nascar/Wal-Mart/MacDonald's people.

One thing though...H-D people are NASCAR people when it comes to being fans of motorsports. They're definitely not your typical F1 types, are they??

Van, trying to paint with a broad brush much? Say it ain't so.
Of course it's so. This is a message board. You're not expected to take things literally, as if I don't allow for exceptions within each group.
Methinks your overly loquacious self went too far in making what was otherwise a damned fine point.
Methinks I ought to suck my own dick, it was such a fine damned point.

Sure I do, for some things. H-D's, for instance. They're fucking horribly built, and way overpriced to boot.
No need to speak with forked tongue, paleface.
Never. I'm pretty clear in what I say and in what I mean.
Know what I'm saying? I have a feeling you don't.
Methinks you're attempting to play the contrarian role a bit too obviously, is all.
Here's another attempt. Those soldiers that you honor? They're fighting and dying for Harley-Davidson, McDonalds, NASCAR, and yes, even Wal-Mart employees and customers.
Tangentially, among many other things, yes. Mostly they're dying for their families and their paycheck. Pretty sure Sgt. Whathisface out there in Iraq isn't charging into some building screaming, "Diiiiick Triiiiiiickle!!!! Aaaaeeeeiiiii!!!"
Give 'em a break, instead of stereotyping them in order to molify the likes of Martard.

Nope, not that. I'm referring more to the 400 lb welfare mom with her six welfare brats loudly trolling the aisles and dripping bacon grease from her ass crack(s), loading up her basket with fried snacks and inane DVDs...

...oh, but not before stopping off at the instore Mickey D's on her way out the door.

Are you fucking kidding me with this bullshit, or do you really buy into that line of thinking?

NASCAR fans spend like a bazillion bucks for their tickets, roll into tracks with HUGE RV's, and party their fucking asses off whilst roasting whole fucking hogs over the week-end, all the while not the least bit concerned about what their "status" is. Put's an NFL tailgate party at Arrowhead to shame, I mean to tell you.

That would be the wealthiest of the wealthy Nascar fans, the Conspicuous Consumption types who trailer their low mileage H-D Fatboys to Daytona in the back of their blinged out toy haulers.

The vast majority of the low rent rank and file Nascar Nation are MacDonald's swillin', Wal-Mart living construction workers with their nasty women and three mustard stained wife beater wearin', rat tail mullet sportin' future "Cops" episodes waiting to happen dink kids.

(Again, don't take me literally here. :meds: <---- )

Of course he might be undercover in a cell somewhere, waiting for the word. Then of course being clean, clean shaven, drinking beer and oggling strippers is okay.

Either way, the notion that somehow these guys were tortured and beheaded because of some "karma" is bullshit. They were tortured and beheaded because the enemy does that with impunity.
