That's the part I'm thinkin'.
The NCAA doesn't like to be played the fool.
Two times in one year is red flag investigation 'specialy when it's big time revenue sports.
Joe Castiglione's watch is on the line and I'm thinkin' the NCAA ain't gonna take kindly to the "pattern, if you will" of resent events.
Coaches not internally investigating players actions as well as the administration, is turning a blind eye by NCAA guidelines.
Timeline is what OU is screwed with. Will the NCAA feel they did all they could with the information available at a specific time or was the buffer to great to excuse?
Hand slaps maybe, sanctions, bowl games, scholly limits, ouch.
Sucks to have a few stupid players...and booster's to match.

I agree with most of what you say Husker, but the actual actions of the Coach in open and repeated disregard of the rules (Sampson) and booster stuff is a bit philosophically different. One would hope at least.

Froz: as per Halzle and the Elite 11: there is this:

http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=87&p=8&c=1&nid=2005931

if you read the "Joey Halzle Headlines" column, there are reports from the 2003 Elite 11. FWIW.

I personally think you start Thompson and maybe give Halzle some snaps here and there.

I mean, $18k per year working five hours a day describes about half of this board.
eh... I thought he claimed 5 hours per day for the summer (3 months). That would be 72k a year at 5 hrs/day.

Still though, don't report illegal payments to the gov't
Ya we aren't talking about a part-time job he had for the year, we are talking for the summer. 25hrs a week for 12 or 13 weeks means kid would be making $55-$60 an hour. For a freaking kid who isn't a computer whiz or anything? Just working for a store? Ya that sounds more than a little fishy.

Sucks for OU and OU-fan, my condolensces on a very tough break. I'm sure horns-fan is buying-up tickets to KC as I type. With a green qb behind a green line OU's MNC title-hopes are gone. They'll lose a couple this year.

Bob made a good call though. He likely knew that this was on the verge of busting-out, The pre-emptive strike was necessary to stop a scandal and possible probation from occurring. Props to him. Just because the NCAA has dragged their feet on USC he can't assume he'll get the same.

Rhett is a numbskull. A part-time, summer-job only launders so much under-the-table income. Did he think nobody would notice he was making WAY over what he was qualified to make? You gotta wonder if maybe he received even more and knocked-it-down to 18,000. Maybe 18,000 seemed reasonable compared to what he really got.

What a couple of fucking morons. But then again, this isn't Bo-Tard's first infraction:
OKLAHOMA CITY — Oklahoma quarterback Rhett Bomar pleaded guilty Tuesday to a misdemeanor charge of being a minor in possession of alcohol.

Bomar, who set an Oklahoma freshman record for passing yards last season, was cited by Oklahoma City police March 10 after an undercover police officer spotted him taking beer from friends, pouring it into a white cup and then drinking it at a New Orleans Hornets' basketball game at the Ford Center.

If you're going to piss away all your chances, you DESERVE to get kicked off the team. Dumbshit.

Can you imagine how screwed Texas would be if they had landed Rouse, Bomar, Perrloser, Willie Williams, and some of the other tards. We have enough problems with 5lb Taylor.

Talk about dodging bullets

So when does USC man up? Better yet....when is the NCAA going to make them?
difference is that the OU boys were being paid to go to OU, Reggie Bush was paid to leave USC.
Tell ya what, the Trojans will man up and not let Reggie play for the team this year, how's that?

And both of them were getting paid for their talent at football, which means that neither of them were amateurs. Which means that USC needs to man up and forfeit the last season, just like OU should.
I demand a share of the National Title!!
