Thanks again for responding to our call for running backs busts. As you will see below, Larry Johnson, the consensus No. 1 pick in fantasy leagues this summer was the most frequent target of your negativity. What follows is a representative sampling of the responses we received from Fanball users.

Without Priest Holmes pushing him, he'll end up on a steady diet of Milk Bones in Edward's doghouse. Michael Bennett would be the logical sleeper here, but Trent Green will have to step up for the Chiefs to finish above .500.

At 35 Will Sheilds has bailing wire holding his knees together, they have Kyle "backjello" Turley on Trent Green's all important blind side and Kevin Sampson on the right side, who in two NFL seasons was active for only 12 games. Guard Brian Waters is nursing a foot injury and Ronnie Cruz a division 2 star at football powerhouse Northern State takes over for pro-bowler Tony Richardson. Ask Ahman Green what happened when he lost two starting guards in Mike Wahle and Marco Rivera. Now ask yourself how well your 68 rs/ss camero runs without one spark plug, water in the gas, and maple syrup in the oil pan.

1) Willie Roaf retired. That is a huge loss for the Chiefs' offensive line and for Johnson.
2) The AFC West is loaded with good defenses. Oakland is the only exception, and they should be much improved.
3) Trent Green is 106 years old and is throwing to a collection of receivers (save Tony Gonzalez) that would have a hard time making the Eagles' roster.
Now, what does bust mean for Larry Johnson? He is going to go in the top three of any draft, so we should be expecting 1600+ yards and 12-15 TDs at a minimum. I'm going to say he goes for about 1200 yards and 9 TD. Again, that is not a bad year, just not what everyone is expecting.

I wish there was a way to go back and read threads from old sites. The one season a cfew years ago has cheffan calling themselves the greatest team of all-time and telling the '72 dolphins to be worried and put the champagne away because they were going to go undefeated.

LJ finished with 147 Combined yards - Not too bad considering how bad the chiefs OL was.

This is the last run for the KC O - Shields and Roaf will retire after 2006.
But if the Chiefs stay healthy there's no reason KC can't contend for the AFC crown.
You're actually in here tootin' your own horn ... ?
Classic.
Roaf retired a couple of days after you wrote that, so you get a pass on that comment ....... sort of (but even if he'd played he'd likely end up hurt this year, or lacking the effectiveness you're accustomed to seeing from him), but you didn't take into account a lot of other things that you were warned about.
Richardson, O-coordinator, head coach, and overall age of the offense.
You and a lot of other Chef fans had a false sense of security about your offense because you'd seen it click along nicely for a long time.
Objective fans could look and see it beginning to come apart though.
KC's offense will struggle all year, and an injured Green is only part of the problem.
Not real wise to have NO reasonable #2 QB when your starter is approaching his late 30s.
Great yob, Carla.
Now you're fucked deep.
The Chef offense is very similar to Oakland's in the year after their Super Bowl loss.
Old QB (who got his bell rung), old O-line (which was losing it's steam), old skill players (no longer what they were).
Also, faith in Herm and Solari will shatter quickly if the team keeps laying eggs like it did Sunday.
This opener was a slap in the face, man.
You're looking at 0-2 after Dungver whips your ass in a few days.
Rebuilding is a bitch.
Ask Raiderfan.
Roaf.
Hey, your team was taking it on the chin yesterday before Green went down.
Now perhaps you've lost one player for a yet-to-be-determined amount of time.
So does that make your team not healthy ... ?
I'm pretty sure every team in the league will lose a 'key' player during the course of the year.
Nobody's fault but KC's that they don't have a viable backup QB.
Tough shit, basically.
Qualifying a take on a team with the 'if they stay healthy' take is = to saying you have no real confidence in your take or your team.
Injuries happen to ALL teams.

... I didn't see the KC game, only the vicious cheap shot on Green...ugly!
Personally I hope Green is OK and is back in the lineup soon. This NFL forum is filled with some real die-hard fans, and TDOTRF are right at the top as far as representation goes.
Let me be the first not to pile on. As every NFL season nears, the anticipation and excitement builds to a freeking crescendo. To see your starting quarterback go down in the first game on a cheap-ass Pearl Harbor shot…well.. I wouldn't even wish that on the Raiduhs
Hang tough Chiefan, and hope to God the Raiduhs are not all alone in first place after tonight.
BTW. I'm still coming to Kansas City fella's, I hope the tailgates at Arrowhead are on par with Qualcom.

Yes it was. But in doing so, Rolle saved a TD and gave his team a chance to win. So I'm sure whatever fine he gets will be handled for him by the team.Nixhex wrote:

Probably so. However, he didn't even need to tackle LJ. A small shove or grab of the jersey would have forced him out of bounds. Rolle just got fined for a horse collar tackle a few weeks ago. I don't know much about him but he's starting to gain a reputation as a dirty player.BSmack wrote:Yes it was. But in doing so, Rolle saved a TD and gave his team a chance to win. Disagree. He stopped him the only way he could... with the most vicious facemask ever.Nixhex wrote:However, he didn't even need to tackle LJ. A small shove or grab of the jersey would have forced him out of bounds.
Can't really blame the dude for doing the only thing he could to stop the freight train that is LJ from hitting paydirt. But the NFL probably will.
It's a testament to LJ's strength and conditioning that he managed to walk off that field. Rack him.
That said, he should have cut it back inside and let that fuck run by him flailing his arms in futility.
And that said... fuck Herm for then running the ball 3 times straight up the middle with Dee fucking fumbles Brown and then settling for a FG.
FUCK THAT!!!
LJ just got his neck nearly broke, and you can't make them pay for it with a game clinching TD?
FUCK THAT!!!
You gave them a chance to force OT with a long FG?
FUCK THAT!!!
Herm is an idiot.
If KC wins, it'll be despite this preacher.

I completely agree on Brown. Bennett or Holmes can't come back fast enough.
I guess looking at the facemask again it was about the only way Rolle could get ahold of LJ. However, if you watch the replay Rolle actually keeps ahold of his facemask after LJ is out of bounds and he slams him to the ground. He could have let go and accomplished stopping LJ without the extra slam at the end. Watch it again and you'll see what I'm talking about.

What's your point? LJ on the 2 yard line would have been money in the end zone. Without LJ, the Cards have a chance. Rolle did exactly what he needed to do to give his team the best chance to win in that circumstance. Was it cheap? Hell yea it was cheap. But the Cards damn near tied that game because of it.Nixhex wrote:Wags~

Maybe, but then you would have had offsetting penalties. I'm not sure what the ruling would have been since one flag would have been thrown while the ball was live and the other while it was dead. But any action that would have forced a replaying of the down would have been insanely stupid.KC Paul 3.0 wrote:Rolle's just lucky that Kyle Turley wasn't on the field after that play. Easier said than done to a CB. Were he a D lineman, I could see that maybe happening. But blocking at the knees on a CB is a sure way to draw your own 15 yard penalty. The solution is to devise a penalty for what Rolle did that would be stringent enough to deter other assholes from trying the same thing.mvscal wrote:Doesn't have to be anything blatant. I agree.WhatsMyName wrote:There's no way he intentionally meant to facemask him that bad. Get over yourself.
When you watch plays in slow mo, or super slow mo, things look a LOT different than what the reality of regular speed is.
Rolle reacted, reached, grabbed, and held on a bit.
LJ happened to have a pretty damn good head of steam up when Rolle got him.
Don't forget that.
The result was pretty bad, but the ACTION of Rolle was not as bad as it's been played up to be, IMO.

...bump errr update on L.J.'s progress on breaking the single season rushing record.
Yesterday...Att. 15 Yds. 25
YTD...........Att. 105 Yds. 357
Games remaining to reach 2106 yds. 11
Average needed per game...1749 by 11 =159 ypg
Blast that Wags will counter with in 5-4-3-2-1
1. He nearly had his head yanked off by Esther Rolle last week!
2. L.T. only had 36 yds. vs. Pittsburgh. (yeah but we won 23-13 and Turner had 56 yds.)
3. After the plungering we took this week in Pittsburgh, I feel sorry for the Bolts coming to Arrowhead.
4. Roaf, Saunders, Edwards..take your pick, its all their fault.

Yes, and Turley is not known for stupidity on the field or anything.BSmack wrote:Maybe, but then you would have had offsetting penalties. Antrell would've found out firsthand what somebody trying to rip your dome off while it's still inside a helmet feels like.BSmack wrote:Looks like it's open season on facemasks. Rolle got fined 12 grand for the play.

A small price to pay for putting your team in a position to win a game if you ask me.
Hey, btw, look at this pic I found on the interweb. Whoever this is, does he still play for the Saints? Stupid fuck.
