Well, since you're apparently not up on the most talked-about game of the weekend, I'll help you out --

I know, Dins, that was my point.

AP just killed, in a real game.

If we're going to compare the stats of all these backs (or of teams in general) how's about we get realistic and throw out the controlled scrimmages?

Do we really care about some team's stats or some guy's YPC when two of their/his three games were against 1-AA or similar teams? Their O line was so dominant that dude wasn't even getting touched until he was into the secondary.

TEXAS Att. Yards, TD, Lng run, Avg.
Young, Selvin 11 94 0 30 8.5
Charles, Jamaal 16 70 0 13 4.4

Not bad considering Texas had to abandon the run in the 2nd half.

No, Peterson killed in a game against a above average team.

I have a feeling that both will be meeting again in the Holiday Bowl

Keep your eyes on Freshman P.J. Hill at Wisconsin. Certainly not in the league of those guys mentioned above, yet, but down the road you wil now who he is.

Oregon at Autzen is a real game.

N. Texas (or Sam Houston St) at Austin, Portland St at Berkeley or Nicholls St at Lincoln are not real games.

Never claimed North Texas or SHSU or Rice were real games, just said that Oregon isn't a game that I would point to and hang my Heisman hopes.

Oregon = TCU in quality of opponent. They aren't bad I would put TCU 2nd or 3rd in the Big 12 south.

Oregon will finish 2nd or 3rd in the Pac 10 but they don't have the defensive reputation that makes me think that Peterson made a statement in that game.

Still even with that said, he is the most talented RB in the country.

Hey dipshit, he had 74 yards rushing vs. Tennecleats. Basically he fuckin' sucks (but still overachieves at Kal).

Oh but I forgot, your tight end went down for "run blocking." And your team was too busy getting buttfucked on national tv.

That same team that took #7 to a one point loss at Neyland also managed to only beat Air Force by one point at Neyland, and that was only down to Air Force inexplicably going for two and the win rather than playing the odds and kicking the PAT for the tie and a chance to win in O.T...

Marshawn didn't exactly crush that team, did he?

Meanwhile, AP crushed in his one big game so far this season. No, Oregon's run D is never going to be confused with LSU's but damn, we all saw what he did and Marshawn didn't look remotely that impressive against Tennessee.

Believe the Heupel wrote:To a point I agree with Vito. Oregon's run defense got blown up by Fresno State as well. Vito's even admitting that Peterson is the "most talented" which I guess is his way of not having to say "best.

Of course, Oregon was loading the box against Peterson and wasn't against Fresno, so that might be something to mention.
Very perceptive, I didn't say the best because to be the best it takes more than talent, it takes a good oline and passing game to keep the pressure off. If Peterson had that he would be 2000+ yard rusher and better able to carry his team. He doesn't have that luxury and will face 9 man fronts all season long. As good as he is, he won't have the numbers to be the best.

I'd go with Ryan Williams of Air Force. I mean, he did have 16 carries for 98 yards and 2 TD's against the team that took #7 down to the wire.
