I'll take the definition provided by my old man (Marine vet of Iwo Jima) and by the men of Easy Company 101st Airborne (on TV last night). The real heroes are the ones who didn't come back, who gave all of their tomorrows so we could live in freedom today.
I think they all may know a little more than all of us.

After all, had the Afghanistan government declared war on America? Were any of the 9/11 attackers Afghans? Iraqis? Of course not. And make no mistake, neither Afghanistan nor Iraq can or will be conquered--especially by the pathetic likes of the U.S. army.
Rummy-fighter pilot during korean war
Chimp-fighter pilot during 'nam. Didn't see combat, but, he was in a position where he could have been called.
You really do suck with a vengeance.
Actually Rummy was a flight instructor during the Korean war, did not see combat. Chimpy, was awol.
Rooster, get it straight--there was absolutely no valid reason for invading Afghanistan. And Invading Iraq was a flat-out war crime on par with the German Nazi invasions of 1940.
We've created a catastrophic situation which is only getting worse. What part of this don't YOU understand? Rummy has surely displayed the most galling incompetence of any military leader in U.S. history, and I can't wait for his trial in Germany--with General Karpinski testifying against him.
You refer to soldiers eating on the run as though this is just business as usual. Really? And I suppose U.S. soldiers in Viet Nam were eating water buffalo and wild hogs? What fucking planet are you on?
Tillman's ghastly death was only one of hunderd, no doubt--and only one of thousands of such terrified shoot-anything-that-moves incidents where civilians were gunned down.
As for the unfortunate American soldiers who are getting blown to shit daily, why don't you go down to youtr local VA hospital and tell some of those amputees and brain-damaged victims of Wolfowitz, Pearle, And Rummy all about the honorable efforts we're embarked upon. Go ahead, look them in the eye and tell them your ditto-head parrot shit. I dare you.
And babs, the Chimp was AWOL. That's when you're supposed to show up and you don't...because...a serious developing coke problem? Who knows, but he was AWOL, period.

Or all of the above.
The thing about shit trolls is they were run under their former nicksco, etc. So you see a Quebec influence among others that have all kinds of personal info on those that ran them and use it with their newly approved shit trolls. I wonder which admin is behind this shit? Not really.

True... a significant portion of the American Public would have been down with dropping anough nukes on them to make the rubble glow for a thousand years or so

For the record, I believe Robert McNamara's incomptence far exceeds Rumsfeld's by any margin with which you choose to measure, be that casualities, length of the war, or professional resume. As for US troops eating wild pigs in Viet Nam? Absolutely it was done. Helicopters would hover over the pack, the door gunner would shoot one, they'd land, pick it up, and fly it back to the firebase for a good old fashioned pig roast. Whadya think? Everybody had access to the steak dinners served in the enlisted and NCO clubs back in the rear? You need to familiarize yourself with some military history, son.
LTS TRN 2 wrote:Burning a friendly fire victim's uniform and armor is "normal," babs?
Yes, it is. Not that you would know anything about it or anything else about combat.
What exactly is a blood soaked uniform going to tell you anyway? That he got shot and killed? I think missing the top of his of head pretty much established that fact.
mvs...just a straight-up question. No b.s. Since you seem to know so much about combat, would you please share with us your combat histroy and military record? Just for the sake of perspective.
The burning of the uniform happens because it destroys something which might otherwise become useful to the enemy. The only things salvaged in a combat situation are critical items such as weapons, dog tags (only one, the other is left on the body), or intell items. However, with the exception of the dog tags, even these may be destroyed if the circumstances warrant it.
The general rule is don't leave anything behind which may help the enemy. Obviously, if a soldier's death ocurs back in cantonment Graves Registration disposes of the person's personal effects except that which might have been removed in the triaging of the trooper.

I'll take Patton's advice.
